Always cracks me up that the pinecone still isn’t going anywhere! They are looking very healthy and readying for the “big one”- when Jackie fills that egg bowl again. Just a few more weeks!

The pinecone adds an extra touch to the nest. Jackie and Shadow are always rearranging the sticks. I loved the ending where Jackie leaves and Shadow's reaction is priceless.

@@Dyloggy “ain’t that the truth!” I have the Sunday paper lying on my bed, but I chose to go check in on my you tube animals instead. I’d rather be restored by nature than find myself grumbling over words. I can’t wait for Jackie and Shadow’s next chance. Despite the failure to hatch, those two are as committed and devoted as it gets. Restores your faith in the natural order of things. The Calm.

One thing I notice…and have noticed is I never see an eagle take a chicken. I lived on Columbia River and there were a pair that flew over frequently. One day I was in my driveway with maybe 5 people and an eagle swooped down probably 25ft from us and picked up a LARGE snake. Must have been watching it for a while. The snake hung down maybe a foot or more on each side! Holy cow I never imagined a snake that big on my property…never seen any snakes for that matter. So I can only imagine there guys bringing a snake like that to the nest.
