Are south Africans willing to take less wages? It needs to be competitive enough for Chinese companies to transport their labour to south Africa because it's cheaper. This is the problem I feel South Africa has.

Can he and Lamula leverage the cooperation with China for skills sharing in the strategic sector of semi- conductors and microchip manufacturing? This would revolutionize the profile of South Africa internationally and create an industry to meaningfully participate in the 4IR. The Ministers of Trade and industry, Science and technology and DIRCO could cooperate and second CSIR personnel for this initiative. This could be a positive and lasting economic boon.

I don't think we have enough water to support those industries.
@suh-guy
@suh-guy 12 күн бұрын
Not everybody has to manufacture semiconducters. There are already enough companies on the planet doing that. The process & benefits of actually building a semiconductor factory especially somewhere with no history in such is just throwing money in the ocean.' Semiconductors already have enough put towards making them globally, that there's no point to even try to boost production.

@RamseyNtombela 11 күн бұрын
@@suh-guy I battle to understand your logic here. The leader in semiconducter manufacturing is Taiwan. The strategic benefit of being a player in this industry are self evident, particularly with the anticipated boom of the Internet of Things. The creation of a capacity to compete in such a crucial sector for maintaining digital sovereignty would be priceless. I don't know whether your outlook is unambitious and unpatriotic, or condescending. The heartbeat of the 4IR is semiconductors and there is no question of the market declining in the near future and SA has the human capital and the resources to meaningfully compete. And it certainly wouldn't be throwing money in the ocean, on the contrary, it would create a vast industry in support of the upstream and downstream requirements. So, I beg to differ and would request you to offer a more strategic and beneficial proposal.

Glad to see South Africa maintaining a strong Friendship bonds with China & Russia and all the BRICS members, despite the Bullying by America and it's minions, we are so sick and tired to the West thinking they are GODs on planet Earth. Let's work together and build Strong and Fair economic trade, unlike the West who likes to use the Dollar to threaten developing economies with Sanctions if they don't agree with their Evil ways. Let's keep working together as the Global South, and develope new currencies and do away with the Dollar 😁

President Ramaphosa's address to international investors at the FOCAC Summit highlights South Africa's ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with global partners, particularly in Africa-China relations. His appeal to investors underscores the country's commitment to fostering economic growth, improving infrastructure, and creating a more conducive environment for business. However, while these efforts are commendable, it is essential that South Africa also addresses domestic challenges, such as corruption and policy uncertainty, to truly capitalize on the opportunities presented by international investment. Effective governance and a stable economic environment are key to translating these global partnerships into tangible benefits for the country and its people.

Right now he is busy connecting us with huge investment from China. The money South Africa will make from this will help fix other issues. After this summit, there are other issues also on the table - look how he agreed & reassured everyone on the crime issue along with the visa issue. Clearly it shows that the new minsters of Police & Home Affairs have been addressed to the issues. Those unimportant issues you want commented on are unnecessary at this point in time.
