Man I hope you have Priit on. Saulo Ribeiro had it spot on in Jiu Jitsu University. Priority of White Belts is Survival. If a higher belt can't attack your defense, you win. Tell then to cry more. You're making them learn and improve their offense. If they need help, Chris Paines has free videos online attacking Priit Shit. Blue Belts need to focus on Escape. Even Danaher and Gordon talk about how if someone can't take position on you or submit you, you get to try all sorts of stuff. "Invincibility lies in the defense, the opportunity for victory in the attack."

Emailed Jordan a long ways back about getting his wife to talk about being a woman in BJJ. Training while pregnant. Training around a menstrual cycle. Etc. Maybe you could do a chat with her on the subject. Increase your own female following at the same time. As a dude I have nothing to offer on this. But I hear coaches and owners talk about, "how do we get more women to train?" Yet no one seems to be really drilling down with female practitioners. (You had that one young woman on with the documentary.) But sadly the most popular BJJ females seem to be those whose camera person keeps the camera on their butt all the time.

Yeah I had Mary-Daisy Held on to talk about that very thing but I having another woman on with that perspective is a great idea.

Ive been attacking technique from a sequence point of view. I am trying to develop sequences- like I dont like drilling knee cuts. what do I do when the knee shield is too good? what's the sequence? what if they get the underhook? Whats the sequence? also, can I roll with your blue belts? they are giving up underhooks to a knee slide? yikes. pin the hips boys!

51 here. Been in this grappling game since 2002. Still a blue belt. Am I asmamed of myself ? I should haver been a black belt a long time ago right ? I've created so many interferences by going boxing comp, wrestling, kickboxing, name em, I realize BJJ belts should not be on my top priority list. My best accomplishment was last, I've consistently submitted my purple belt instructor who often places 2nd in comps. That's good enough for me. Though he resented me submitted him, I switch school, and now finally rolling for fun. By the time I earn the black I might be 61. Meaning it might be the worst time of my journey to asses a BJJ balck belt, so fuck that belt system, I'll just roll for fun.

Do you have any advice for those who have been training for a couple years now and still failing at 95% of my techniques that I try, guard passing, escapes, sweeps, submissions, against day 1 white belts? In terms of knowledge, I watch about 30-60mins of jiu jitsu per day so I am pretty versed in most techniques but I am not able to apply most of my skills against a resisting opponent. I still haven't figured out how to have fun but I figure if I keep training, eventually it will be fun.

Youre using the shotgun approach. Its the worst when learning jiu-jitsu. Focus on specializing. Pick 3 techniques (a sweep, an escape, a sub) you want to focus on per month. Drill them to death and try to do them in every roll. At the end of the year you’ll have 36 techniques that your actually good at. Instead of just being shitty at all of them. Best of luck
