I'm extremely thankful for your Focus ST videos. Its really made my decision to get one very easy and you showing step-by-step how to mount and put on all these performance parts on all the ST's you've done so far are wonderfully appreciated and saves me time trying to figure how to do it myself. Two thumbs up!

By far the most effective upgrade, outstanding video as well. Have had the "e-mount" for a few weeks, literally no hop at all. Cabin noise is unchanged to boot. Thanks Bill + CJ for suggestion

Wanted to pass along a tip. You may already know, but figured it couldn't hurt. There are two tabs on the back of the lower engine cover. Those slot into the subframe. Once they are pushed in, the panel will stay in place allowing you two hands to install the screws. Great videos, keep up the good work.

For anyone with a 2014 Focus ST, the 2014 Focus ST comes from the factory with the electric Focus mount. If you feel the need to have something stiffer as I did, look at the Steeda, Boomba, or Cobb rear motor mount. Yes you will have a bit of vibration, but they are quite liveable IMO.
@KittyCannonner9 жыл бұрын
Is this where the build date matters? Or is it all '14 Focus STs?
@sk8s4aliving9 жыл бұрын
KittyCannonner It's all 2014 models. The build date is just for the brakes. The later models got the brakes form the Escape iirc. They're bigger and don't put out as much brake dust.

sk8s4aliving Awesome, thanks! Kinda wishing I had those brakes on mine though, my front wheels look like the black (upgrade?) and the rears are silver -_-

Hey Bill, awesome video, I've used your videos for my lowering springs as well. I ran into an issue with the last bolt you take out of the transmission anchor @ 2.35 in the video... it just shows you unscrewing the bolt, but I wanted to know specifically what you used, because I am using a 15mm wrench and I don't have nearly enough torque to get the bolt off.

Hey love your videos just wondering if you could do the cobb front mount intercooler id like to see how thats done since I know u have to.do.alittle drilling
@TheBadnewz7910 жыл бұрын
That mount comes on the 2014 models with a production date of 10/13 or newer. After a few thousand miles back to the same problem you started with. I own a 13 st that's a piece of crap. After tsb work the mount is still really bad, beck seat latch had to be replaced, fish eyes all over the paint. Getting fully repainted on the 13th. The boost gauge bar is loose. I can pick it up from the right side. All kinds of creeks, cracks, rattles going on. All Ford will do for me is the warranty work and paid a payment for me. I can afford the car, how about a new car without all the issues. Anyway, good videos man, keep up the good work.

Im going to have this mount put on by the dealer under the tsb, but if I wanted to go further what would be the better option? The steeda mount or the Cobb?
@Zerogivengarage10 жыл бұрын
The Cobb is a heavier duty mount designed for more aggressive driving. This mount would be 1 step better than stock, the Cobb would be the next step. This mount is also less than half the price.

hey bill quick question: ive got the 2014, that came stock with the e-mount. in my last car i put 3m window weld to stiffen up the mount to help out just a bit. question 1: is this something you're familiar with? question 2: do you think by doing this it could be a good median between the e-mount and a aftermarket mount?

Hi Bill - great videos. Question: I have installed the e-focus mount on my 13' Focus Sedan, but I drive very aggressively and thinking about upgrading to a 70 durometer Steeda RMM. I believe the Cobb RMM is 85 durometer. I heard that over 70 durometer can introduce NVH. Can you chime in on this? The Steeda mount is about $120 by the way thanks a lot
@Zerogivengarage9 жыл бұрын
The heavier durometer mounts will add a little NVH to the car but most feel the trade off is worth it. We removed the e mount and went with the stage 2 CPE and all of our wheel hop is gone with only a slight increase in NVH at idle.

@IdahoFilmandPhotoLLC10 жыл бұрын
So I have a MY14, and the dealership said I already have the upgraded mounts. Would one of these or the Cobb, or CPE RMM help at all? Being that I already have the upgrade?
@Zerogivengarage10 жыл бұрын
The E mount is an upgrade from the factory mount but not quite on the level of a heavy duty mount like the Cobb.
@GRYJEDI9 жыл бұрын
Will this upgrade work with a 2012 and help reduce engine vibration? Ford tells me it's "normal" for my car panels to rattle while in idle or in park.
@Ichibuns9 жыл бұрын
+David Domsalla This will make engine vibration move through the cabin much easier. It'll make it worse.
@GRYJEDI9 жыл бұрын
Most of my vibration was fixed after going to multiple Ford mechanics. The 3rd Dealership replaced ALL the motor mounts and also did this upgrade.
@Ichibuns9 жыл бұрын
David Domsalla maybe the previous one were completely bad then?
@GRYJEDI9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 2 of the 4 mounts were shot. I had them replace the 3rd motor mount and upgrade the lower mount at the same time. I still have more idle vibration then i would like but it's been a drastic improvement. The lower mount upgrade has definitely eliminated most of the wheel hop i was having too.
@Ichibuns9 жыл бұрын
David Domsalla Guess it worked out then. Luckily motor mounts are an easy and quick job

This is a popular upgrade for Mazda3 rear mounts. Although on the Mazda3 you need a longer bolt. Does anyone know the thread pitch on the mount to the engine?

I've heard that COBB do a better mount.... Will the genuine Ford one be better ??
@Zerogivengarage9 жыл бұрын
The Cobb, CPE, etc are stronger than the Ford mount. This is a basic step 1 upgrade, the others would be above this performance wise but may add a little more vibration
@okaythen0018 жыл бұрын
after this you can drop the clutch and launch it no problem? how's the ride any virbration or anything vs stock
@craigp26528 жыл бұрын
Hey OkayThen, I'm driving a '13, launched several times without hop or the awful "bang" from the crappy stock mount
@metaljew44568 жыл бұрын
+Craig P: We said LAUNCH Craig, not pull away from a light like your grandma. It's literally impossible not to notice this major oversight by Ford. The stock MM is mush as seen in this video and the slamming noise that it makes is truly disturbing. If indeed you have a 2013 ST get that stock mount replaced immediately son.

boss , my friend install the cobb one but it's create a lot of body vibrations in idle condition , is that part also create the same vibration ??? waiting your kind replay (my Email: adrievo@gmail.com)
@Zerogivengarage10 жыл бұрын
abdullah faisal I have driven several different cars with the Cobb mount and didn't notice anything excessive. When you replace a softer bushing with a firmer one a slight increase is normal. The Steeda mount comes with two different bushings if you were looking for something a little softer.
@adrievo1010 жыл бұрын
yes of course I'm looking for the softer one .. anyway my friend replaced that part you shown under TSP in the dealer & after that he bought the cobb one , so I'll barrow that ford modified mount to see the difference & let you know . thanks for replay & support boss...

@adrievo1010 жыл бұрын
cobb one create a lot of vibration
@Ichibuns9 жыл бұрын
+abdullah faisal but it is much less prone to wheel hop and puts more power to the ground in lower gears. There are trade offs for both. People would be surprised in how something like a simple motor mount can affect 0-60 times so much

I have to do this on my 2016 ST and the fact that the Focus is an onion - as in, you have to take apart 17 interlocking pieces to do even the simplest repair - is part of the reason I'm selling it as soon as I pay it off. You shouldn't have to pull multiple brackets off an engine to replace a mount, or yank out the headlights to upgrade the intercooler, or any of the other idiocy that made it past Ford's design review process. The car is fun to drive, but it's no keeper.
