Need to remember, the Speed platform is older then these new generations of turbo 4-cylinder cars. Without a doubt that’s why the St/RS and even the new GTI have more comfort and better ECUs. To my understanding, when the Speed3 & 6’s were developed, they really only thought about raw power and feeling connected to the car. If the Speed platform continued, I believe they would be right up against these new cars or even better than them. Some people even think that the Speeds are better then the new cars 🤷🏼♂️. But I love them all and love seeing 4-cylinder cars beat 6 & 8 cylinder vehicles.

I've had my speed 3 for almost 2 months now. It had 145k when I bought it. After driving it for a couple months every day, I have come to the conclusion that I needed this car 10 years ago. It's an overall great car. A few bugs. But almost have them all worked out. I personally love this interior. Being a Gen 1, the seats are much more stylish in my opinion. Not like someone went crazy with a rattle can on the doors and seats like the Gen 2. And the glow in the instrument cluster gets more style points. And it still has a buttload of room in the back, especially after I fold the seats down. The aftermarket exhaust that came on the car when I bought it, is extremely throaty. Not too loud. Not too soft. Just the perfect tone. And the color, the cosmic blue pearl is amazing. Everybody loves it.

Have 60k on my 15 ST3. Full bolts and haven't had any issues whats so ever. Great daily, take it to the mountains for snowboarding, throw the mountain bike on the rack in the summer. Drive it to the beach when time allows.. Great power for what it is and reliable. She is quick for sure and have been enjoying it, but as always that power bug still hangs around but in a FWD platform 300 is the sweet spot. Keep up the good work Cameron, loving the channel

I want to order the same kit but want to make sure i can hide the whole thing. Thank you for being awesome

Good choice !! I agree 100% The Focus ST is a FAR better all-around car than the Mazda. The Speed 3 is kind of a One-Trick-Pony. Kinda like buying a Marshall Guitar Amp. It's only good for High Gain LOL ;)

What do you think of the 2014 Honda si with tha vtec natural aspirated engine
@1AddictedPro3 жыл бұрын
Owned a speed 3 for about 2 months before I blew the engine, completely stock as well. Then got a decent deal on a '18 FoST. Loved the Speed 3's styling, power, and rawness. The FoST has been a reliable daily for 9~ months now. Put in a 12' sub and replaced all the door speakers since it was an ST1. Recently went with a cobb + stratified tune which brought out more rawness that we all crave. I'm forever a mazda fanboy, but gotta give it to the FoST. I'd talk more about the handling on both cars if I could... but just know whatever decision you guys make, they're both amazing cars.

I’d choose an ST over my Gen 1 speed if I could, just because its more supported overall.
@djsk2444 жыл бұрын
not just that, ST is just so much easier to work on, Doesnt require a tune to add a BOV (if you're into it), And isnt a absolute fucking pain in the ass to access areas around the engine .

Dj Sk yea the mazda engine bay is bitch. Everything is so much more stressful to work on, but I still love my ms3

What is more reliable in stock form iam looking at both
@BigbirdJohnson4 жыл бұрын
for a daily driver, how would you compare the st and ms3 to say a new civic si or a new mk7 golf gti?

Focus ST or WRX? Thinking of getting one soon...
@AustinMBecker4 жыл бұрын
I'd pick ST - for price, less maintenance (most likely), and better styling/ride dynamics. Up to you....

Austin Becker thanks for the reply. I think I will end up getting the ST 👍🏼

Any plans on a clean hr 350z? Since the de is gone
@Swigswag1234 жыл бұрын
I think sts are more comfortable but speed3 is a lot more fun
@pearldrums924 жыл бұрын
I’ve had both aswell. It’s not close the ST is a much more fun car to drive. The MS3 is honestly one of the worst cars I ever owned. It just felt awfully cheap in every aspect other than power train. The MS3 can be made faster, no question but if you enjoy driving and turning at all, the ST is your car.

my ms3 went zoom zoom boom 3 days ago. put a hole in block, crankshaft girdle destroyed, oil pump cracked... not sure what else is busted but I'll find out soon. gonna pull engine out. car has 108K on it pushing @ 380 hp/tq at whees. tons of fun and tqsteer. PITA but I have no choice than to rebuild if I want to smile again behind wheel. out comes the trusty 25 yr old 626 winter beater a couple of mo ths early this year.

I’m not sure if you’ve answered this before but did you like the 350z or ST better? As a weekend toy. Had a MS3 before but I’m thinking about a ST or 350z as a toy project. Or an older LS car
@CameronAlford4 жыл бұрын
if it's a weekend toy and you wanna go sideways and get wild get a Z! If you wanna go fast and ur ok with not sliding then get an ST cuz the torque with the ST is a blast

Cameron Alford somehow that made the decision even harder 😭😢

I have a 2014 Focus w/ the 5 speed, pretty fun chassis - but I don't like the stock cloth seats. I'd love to try the Recaro's. Wish I could afford an ST, just to see the differences. Hands down though, the Mazdaspeed is more of a monster stock....

They aren’t competitors. They are basically the same car made by the same people.
