As a 4 year Focus ST owner, these are my best recommendations. An intercooler 100%. These cars do not fare well in hotter weather and even in cooler temperatures the OEM tube and fin design intercooler is very much lacking. I would see 60 degree Fahrenheit spikes on charge temps in one third gear pull. Very very bad for the poor engine and it really robs power as the hotter air with limit the amount of fun you can have with these cars. Turbo cars need as cold as they can get. Secondly, a rear motor mount at a minimum. Please do yourself and your poor car a favor and get a new rear motor mount. The wheel hop, 1st to 2nd and all other shifting is greatly improved, and the power will get a more direct transfer to the ground resulting in a faster response and a more enjoyable car. I’m going to slip in that I personally recommend getting the passenger and driver side mounts for the car as well. To my surprise when I replaced my transmission mount my oem unit was about to fail and drop my transmission on the floor which easily would have totaled the car. With these mounts upgraded the car will feel absolutely amazing. Precision feel makes shifting better when things aren’t wiggling around in the engine bay, and the whole front end becomes rock solid. When I say rock solid I mean that all three engine mounts have had a bigger impact on front end rigidity, and turn in than any shitty offerings for strut tower bars or other front end chassis bracing. I really think AWR Racings engine mounts are the best you can buy for these cars. I used to run CPE and I’ve felt what Cobb rear mounts are like and I can honestly say that AWR mounts are the most solid built and well composed when it comes to improving things without much in the way of draw backs. I run 88 all around but it’s up to you. Modifying cars is always a trade off with comfort and performance. Tunes are great! Don’t use OTS from Cobb. They blow engines and I mean it. Tunes are adjustments to a wide range of things that affect how your engine runs and it’s best to have one custom tailored to your car and what parts you have. This includes where you are in the world because you’re access to different types of fuel will be limited as well as factors like elevation. Get an access port and then a tune from a reputable source like stratified, edge auto sport or others. At this point you can also more closely monitor your engine and how it runs by looking at data from the ecu. Reading codes is another wonderful benefit from this as diagnosing issues becomes an easier and faster process. These are great cars and those are my top recommendations. Tires and brakes are also huge factors alongside suspension. Just do the research and make sure to buy quality the first time. I made the mistake when I first bought the car thinking I could get a away with products that had lower price tags and I was wrong. There are exceptions for example the Depo Racing 3.5 and 5.5 intercooler but it’s up to you to find them at your own risk. Good luck and google everything. The focus forum is an amazing resource.

Best mods for your budget ST build (based on my experience spending too much): 1. Wheels, tires, coil overs (raceland Ultimos specifically) 2. Depo Racing 3.5" FMIC, muffler & resonator delete + new exhaust tips (or full 3" catback, AWE and Accellatec are great) 3. Cobb Accessport & custom e30 tune All in you can do this for around ~$3500, making ~300whp/380ftlbs and look good doing it. (add $2000 for a big turbo, external wastegate and bov for ~380whp)

Don't buy cheap coilovers.. Ultimos are garbage unless all you are looking for is to be low. Downpipe > Catback. Muffler and resonator delete drones like shit do one or the other. Full catback on stock turbo makes no sense other than noise because it makes no power. Yes to the depo intercooler. Full bolt on is filter, intercooler, downpipe. Get the AEM dry flow(easier to maintain over a green or cobb filter)$65, Intercooler $360, Rear motor mount $50, cnt racing 200 cell downpipe $350. If you want some more noise do a Resonator delete or if you want different tips do a muffler delete(more noticeable drone than resonator delete) either way $50. Accessport $300 used. Get some sort of tune from Edge, JST, Stratified, etc ~$300-350 for a pump and e30 tune or ~250 for just a pump gas tune(91/93) 280-290 is more realistic hp numbers and about 360 TQ $1525 Big turbo. BNR 67 or 71 is $1700 if you're on a budget. Both will max out stock fuel and don't need an external gate. Will need blowoff valve and charge pipes though. Depo Charge pipes $220, Blowoff valve of your choice $40-300; have someone weld the flange for whatever blowoff valve to the depo hot pipe $50-75. 1 Step colder plugs $28 New tune $400-450. 350-375hp ~$2550 If you need MO POWA BABY than you need aux fuel. 2 port aux will max out either of those turbos. Can normally find them used for about $550 but its $995 new. Tune revision $150 (save 50 dollars if you have this when you go big turbo on tune) BNR 67 will be at ~425whp and BNR 71 will be ~475whp

@@XBLACKWHITEX171 I'd say skip the coil overs completely. Along with springs and most other suspension mods. Most just fuck up the handling and the ride comfort. People often do these mods with out giving it a second thought. These are the same folks who'll agonize over dyno graphs of their chosen tune making sure that they get "MAX POWA". Yet when it comes suspension they just throw on a set of springs/shocks or coil overs and don't spend one second tuning the suspension beyond a basic alignment. There are so many factors when it comes to suspension tuning that get over looked by the "drop it like it's hot" crowd. They assume that lowering the car make it handle better, just trusting the "feel" of a tighter suspension means that it has to be handling better. I'd be willing to bet that in the majority of cases they've actually hurt the handling along with the ride comfort. New tires absolutely will help handling way more than slapping on a spring or coil over kit and call it a day.

Thats funny because I was going to grab springs but decided not to I’m going to grab some fortune 500s or something when I’m done with everything else. I don’t want to spend twice and as of right now I’m just on the street so tires is the way better option early. Don’t really need wheels anyway, just tires, people like to run the stock snowflakes or the premium wheels anyway. If you want more of a flush fitment with the snowflakes you just get 20mm spacer in the front and 25mm in the back on premiums you can do the same if you cut your studs in the front otherwise you have to run 25mm all round.

My ST was such a fun little ride. My suggestion is replace the rear motor mount. It greatly reduces the wheel hop that the stock mount was prone to do when you do a hard pull. I got the Mountune one and it took me about 45 minutes to install. Ford Performance has a tune you can put on the ST that wouldn't void your warranty. It didn't raise the power but it raised the torque by 90 lb-ft. That really made the car really fun. That little 2.0 Ecoboost can put out lots of low to mid range torque. The suspension is really great on these cars, while not as great as the Fiesta ST, but this baby can handle for a FWD platform. Also a really big upgrade that will also compliment your upgraded motormount is a Quaffe LSD. I overall love this damn car.

Not sure of Focus ST's in the rest of the world. But we here in South Africa have the Cologne plant in Germany builds. Done all the mods as well as Cobb software. But so far i know of more than 50 Focus ST's who suffered severe engine damage after all the mods. Mostly holes burned in pistons and burned valves.Obviously no factory warrenty's. And very expensive to repair. I removed all mods and have done 70 000 km sofar with no further issues. But head was cracked already on 50 000 km.Front top engine mount broke just after warrenty expiring. Cooling water pipes cracked. But a joy to drive everyday.

My brother has owned a 2016 focus st for a few years now. We just installed an intercooler, intake, downpipe and tune last week. It was a fun car in stock form, but is a blast now. I highly recommend the focus st. You won't regret it. I have a 2019 3.5 ecoboost f150 that is tuned to over 400rwhp and my dad has a stock 2016 3.5 ecoboost f150. Ford's 2.0L and larger ecoboost engines are a lot better than people give them credit for, when maintained properly. They need fresh oil every 5k miles or sooner, not 7,500-10k, like ford recommends. At 5k miles, my oil life meter reads 50%, yet the oil is spent. Used oil analysis reports show that even 7500 mile intervals are too long. These engines are hard on oil, due to being direct injected, high compression and turbocharged. It is also why they make so much low-end torque and overall power. I've seen plenty of 200k+ mile ecoboost f150s that are still reliable and the one thing they all have in common is frequent oil changes.

I got a 2014 stage 3 st on 93. Honestly, best aftermarket part you could throw on for performance is the intercooler. I have the depo racing 3.5 fmic and its incredible and its half the price of bigger well known brands. Charge temps went from 170 to never above 80. Awe track exhaust, catless dp, depo racing intake pipe and air filter. Have the flash tune from stratified for a little over 6000 miles and I can say, it's VERY fun to drive as a daily. Not too sure how much whp but if I had to guess 270-280ish and torque in the 300s. From a roll, it rips and it feels great.

Figured I would put this as its own comment Don't buy cheap coilovers.. Tune revision $150 (save 50 dollars if you have this when you go big turbo on tune) BNR 67 will be at ~425whp and BNR 71 will be ~475whp when you go BT that ls when you really should be grabbing your 3 inch catback for the actual performance so it can breath. If you want quiet Awe Resonated Touring and the nvidia q300 are the way to go. Mid level I would say is the mbrp. Loud would be cobb or a little louder would be the awe track. Solid bushings and short shifter are good things to get too. If you do a short shifter, lever>arm>plate. The ebay dfj lever is a super cheap lever that works. It’s basically a steeda clone I believe. Want flush stock snowflakes? 20mm spacers in front and 25mm in the back. Want flush Premium wheels? You have to cut your front studs a bit but same spacers otherwise you have to run 25mm in the front and back. Most people grab the garageline spacers. Don’t forget clutch upgrades after you go big turbo. Stock ST clutch is rated for 400tq I believe and the RS clutch for 450tq (RS clutch fits the ST as well as the RS slave cylinder)
