That was a funny speech Matt. I was born Catholic but at 18 I stopped believing God is real for various reasons. But that wasn't meant to be. I thought I was fairly happy as an atheist but God wasn't happy about it. God arranged for me to be given a modern day Bible with no thees, thous, or other Old English words in it. This was a long time ago so I didn't know such Bibles existed. I had to read it because I had told the God I wasn't sure existed that if I ever found such a Bible I would read it. Thus started the rest of my life. Do you know what makes the Bible different from every other book there is? You never finish reading it. Oh sure I had read from cover to cover in 2 or 3 yrs, but I wasn't finished reading it. You young folks today are lucky because you can listen to it and read it at the same time. That's great when you get to many names, especially in the OT. And don't let anyone tell you the OT isn't important because it's very important. Jesus said we are to live in a way that's pleasing to God, but how are we supposed to know what's pleasing to God and what isn't. Actually the whole Bible tells that, but I think the OT goes into it more than the NT. What is the point of being Christian, anyway? The point in to be close to God. You get close to God by learning about Him. You learn about Him by reading about Him but also by reading His words. Only the Bible contains the actual words God has spoken to mankind. They are often very confusing, I think God did that on purpose so that we'd spend most of our time thinking about Him. Don't expect to ever have God all figured out. We will never figure Him out, He's beyond what man can understand. We can only understand Him in part, the rest remains a mystery. That's where faith comes in, we believe Him even though we don't understand the how's, or why's He did what He does. And don't mistake the joy that Matt spoke of for feeling happy. It's not the same thing. It took me an extremely long time to realize that. No one ever told me the way I'm telling you. So if being Catholic helps you to get closer to God, so be it. But it didn't work for me. I actually found following Catholicism took me away from God. But things have to change in this world, and I know God can use anything to get His way. If He couldn't I'd still be the atheist I was at 18, which I am not. God Bless you all.

The speech really got to me but man... that singing was terrible. Jk, it was nice. I never heard that prayer being sang before so a bit shocking, but it was nice.
