Please pray for my children and me. Depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorder. Husband left, family doesn’t want to talk to us. No access to a Cristian therapist. May The Lord heal us, He is able.🙏

Hello, Maru. We were sorry to hear about the difficulties your family is facing. We have read through the petitions you shared with us concerning you and your children, and want you to know that our staff has brought them before the Lord during our time of devotions. We trust He will prove His faithfulness in these and in the many other situations where His intervention is so clearly needed. For further help, we have counselors here at Focus who are available to talk with callers by phone to offer encouragement and guidance (at no cost). If you would like to speak with a caring individual, we invite you to call us at 1-855-771-HELP (4357) weekdays between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. (MT). The Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone will arrange for a counselor to call you back. One of them will be in touch just as soon as they're able. May God lead you to the help you’re seeking.

This teaching is so needed in these days! I was 50 when the straw that broke the camel's back (through my church!) was placed on me and "suddenly" I had PTSD. Truly it had taken a lifetime of rapes, beatings, and other traumas that I had somehow managed to sort out and live through, finally adding up and demanding the attention that I had previously refused to give to them. It seems to be taking forever to heal, and no one (other than my paid female Christian therapist) understands.

I am sorry that it was the church that caused you to feel that way. Sometimes, people in the church are in church for their own healing as well. A lot of people are traumatized and have not dealt with their own issues. They think that going to church can heal them. Until something happens. I am glad that you are doing your therapy. We all need to heal. I do wish you well in your healing journey. Blessings!

I understand, I've spent years in Christian counseling for the same, one thing I learned bout church, be careful whom you allow in your heart and share your feelings with, make sure it's someone capable of empathy..

I understand too, maybe differently from different situations but the pain is the same, if I tried to explain mine, I don't know if I could at all, emotional soul torture is as close as I could explain it I think and I'm not even sure that's enough. My first thoughts of suicide were at 12-13 years old, the only thing that ever made it better was His touch when I bared my soul to Him, held nothing back and cried and cried so hard... Is there still a lot of anguish inside me? Yes... I admit it, thankfully I have someone to help as well, a believer therapist who has a helped a lot. Will I ever be healed completely? I don't know.. maybe not on this planet but this planet now as it is, is not the end.. The bible says a new heaven and a new earth where there is no more pain, no more sorrow and no more death. THAT is what I want, forever! Can I wrap my mind around that reality? It's hard BUT it will be amazing! I want that in ways there are no words for!

I would live to hear a perspective on healing trauma in the body from a Biblical perspective. Our bodies hold onto stuff and then we get syndromes like chronic fatigue, headaches digestive problems fibromyalgia I find lots of stuff about it but there’s too much eastern mysticism and stuff that’s not biblical. . .

"Tim Fletcher" has a channel that dives deep into understanding trauma. His older videos have a biblical part the last 10 minutes or so that relates with the topic. It's put words where there was none before. It doesn't replace heathly human connections needed for actual healing but it's explained a lot.

Dr.Stevens, as a psychiatrist, did you temporarily take medication to help with your mental state? If not how did you know you didn’t need it?

I lost my son and his girlfriend in a very traumatic way. I’m wondering how I can get this book and any other resources you may have. I do go to grief share and counseling. I do not have a Christian therapist because my insurance will not cover it.

This comment is probably long obsolete for this video but I care for 2 elderly parents and both have a very high likelihood of instant death unless consantly cared for. They have been through major trauma the past 2 years in and out of hospitals with near death experiences and I have seen all the indicents. My employer DOES NOT carw and I can only take care of them when I at home from the office on Fridays and weekends. I very depressed, stressed, irritated and near suicidal. I feel I need help but do want to take medications.
@WickieHereКүн бұрын
I hope this helps. First, what your parents need are ways to simplify their needs. Ask a friend for help, do you have siblings that can help? Secondly with your employer, consider this, while you work for your current employer, seek another employer who will understand your needs. Then when you find a new employer, either cycle yourself off of that employment, especially if friendships are formed there, if you can't risk losing your current job, find a way to ease your stress. Or quit your current employment completely, and begin working at your new job. And please, you are far too valuable to take your own life, please don't, you are loved beyond what you can comprehend. And with medications, research why you need to take your meds, and instead research herbs, God's naturally grown medicine may help you. I hope you are blessed. Be strong!

🎉❤thank you for sharing. How does one handle spiritual principles of faith, confession of Jesus finished work and being authentic, valnurable talking about pain, trauma responses. What do the scriptures say. How do we talk about emotions, behavuours, that may be seen as wrong such as anger, greed(eating binge)

Wow! Easy for you to say. You absolutely do Not get it! I am a Christian and have suffered for 20 years with this neurological/nervous system disorder. Try having PTSD from childhood abuse, then repeated trauma thru adult years. We have to fight for our sanity, fight to be stable and sane. High suicide rate for us as well as high rates of addiction. No picnic. As a strong person of faith I know I would not be alive w/out Jesus.
@aneber181110 ай бұрын
This is not an issue of salvation. This is an issue of redemption of the trauma and healing while on this earth. The pain can be very tangible and even blinding and you can still be saved- they are 2 greatly different things.
