Growing up my dad and myself listened to focus on the family together on our local radio station. As an adult, I lost my father a few years ago. My spouse has been unfaithful recently, I turned to focus on the family and I am so grateful to have this to help me walk though this.

I’m a born again Christian, 14 months out of the new age, after my young son died. I’ve been in deeply dysfunctional patterns, as has my husband. Psychology calls me a codependent (I call it abuse), on both sides. Stepping out of this has been-feels futile. Desperately working towards living more like Jesus and in Gods word. Struggling hard right now. Praying all day, everyday. My partner is not saved and has many addictions.

Oh Mattie, saw this a year later but said a prayer that you are still hanging onto Jesus, making it through with grace and God's love. Bless you! With Jesus you can make it through anything!!

What i noticed was the honesty and how open to each other they were. Thats important to restoration. My situation is the same but my spouse continues to make excuses for himself

"This does not have to be fatal." What a seldom-spoken concept and reality. Betrayal isn't always a bridge that needs to be burned. Thank you FOF and Dave and Kirsten Samuel for being so transparent about such a hard place. What is really outside of the marriage vow, "for better or worse"? So powerful and hopeful.

So true! Especially Christians, as it is so mismanaged and misunderstood by leaders and the body of Christ. We love our spouses (even in their stupidity) and due to being pushed out by the church, we suffer alone! Many people grieve alone in a lonely room without any well wishers, flowers, cards, are whatever things most people going through bereavement get. It’s a very rough time, all because we want to shield our children and spouse from the shame and hurt that infidelity causes. It’s called love…love that the one that cheated probably doesn’t even understand (or they wouldn’t have cheated to begin with)! 💔

Pray for my husband and my marriage restoration. I believe it's Life time commitment. My husband is silent and he is not ready to invest his time, energy and finance. What do I need to do to gain my husband trust.

It's assuring to hear that there are still Christian workplaces that stand beside their employees by supporting & preserving the family unit. That has not been the case for my family & a prominent Christian University employing my husband. A multi-yr long affair was covred up and even supported. Lord please flood the earth with Your Holy Spirit to heal, restore and reconcile those families hurting from the destruction of separation and divorce. In Jesus name amen.

Honestly, what a difficult thing to go through and how wonderful that they are open to sharing their story. It’s interesting, though, I don’t think they mentioned Jesus’ name once. And when she was asked what made her continue to work toward healing, she said his face when he came home from counseling. I’m glad she’s honest about that but I think that speaks to a larger issue about where her focus is. On Christ? Or on her husband’s commitment to getting help? He said, “I always had that in mind ‘what was I willing to do to allow my wife to heal’”. It’s not his role to heal her. She said herself part of her wound was from a wound when she was 9, he can’t heal that. Heck he can’t even heal the wound he made in her. Only Jesus can do that. And they never. mention. His. name. So sad. 😔

I’m with you this breaks my heart… 💔 the focus must be Jesus always, we can’t make an idol out of the husband or wife. We are imperfect.

My wife of 28 years is sick. This sickness is caused by a mental health issue. She is refusing to help to get better, but she likes the attention sickness brings. This has been going on for a year. Im tired and done and looking at a divorce. Found out during this time she has lied to me about our financial situation. I had to quit my job to be her full time caregiver. As a Christian i know what the bible says, but what point im I required to care for someone who is refusing to get healthy? Her sickness is easily treated with diet and proper mental health treatment.

So much of this interview had me screaming in my own head. For many reasons I was so totally turned off by these people. All of them. Now I have to determine if I'm so riddled with rot that the light of this episode has me squirming in discomfort, or if my counterpoints to this episode were valid. Maybe both. If something is hard to watch and you experience an emotional reaction, then you should understand that reaction. I need to do that.

It is easy to see why so many people outside of the Church, see Christians as hypocrites. I have a hard time trying to talk my Mom Christian friends into even stepping into a Church. They hear about pastors, ministers, and evangelicals, who are liars, adultereres, homosexuals, bigots, child molesters, domestic abusers, pornographers, etc., yet these people preaching Godliness to others. I try my best to explain that everyone is a sinner in Church, from the pulpit to back door. That's why Jesus was sent. My non Christian friends just don't want to be bothered by hypocrites?
@KirstenDSamuel3 жыл бұрын
They will have to keep looking if they're searching for perfection in the church. I've only found it in Jesus. I'm glad you're trying your best to reach others. Praying you are able to reflect the love of Jesus to a hurting world. Thanks!

He could have stuck a knife I to your heart Harder. It could have been a decade of Facebook surveillance of a former girlfriend on Facebook with friend requests that you accidentally found. Then he could have gone to the police to try and have you arrested , and to your doctor to try and have you declared incompetent. Then he could have told you he never loved you and he would turn the kids against you. Then he could break your knee cap by pushing you.
