This is the best, clearest and most complete explanation I’ve found on KZbin. Thanks! I’ll try to remember all this the next time I try to jump from 30 to 60 pushups per day from one day to the next. As another fitness person on KZbin said, muscles develop strength much more quickly than joints… You’d think a person would learn to be patient by age 70 … sigh.

Great explanation. I believe this is what im suffering from. Have been dealing with flare ups of shoulder pain for over a year...im in physical therapy for the second time but the pain in the front of my shoulder is not going away. I have to be real careful at work with certain movements or a sharp pain hits. Everyday I wake up with throbbing shoulder pain. I just want some relief. Im not a big fan on taking pain meds on a regular basis. That will eventually cause other issues.

I can trace back the original injury to 35 years ago, pulling the dog leash in an external movement. After that, I would trigger it every spring or summer pitching a baseball. Later on swimming front crawl, the recovery stage, became a painful issue. Your explanation of the difference has really helped me understand and identify what my issue is…..including the acute pain increasing during the night! Thank you. I will put treatment suggestion to the test!

Is it easy to see bursitis and Tendonitis on Ultra sound. I have been deling with serious shoulder pain. I asked them to look for calcific Tendonitis. Sadly they didn't find much . I read that the portable Ultra sound is not as accurate as the hospital one. Growing up I had no problem driving or biking , and tennis for hours when young. Now have to ice shoulder after biking and Voltaren usually helps. I stopped delivering I used to be an amazing driver when young started getting to painful. I read many studies showing high power ultrasound to get calcium out. I still haven't tried yet. I asked them to try lavage to get the calcium out and barbabatoe is they inject steroid Some people do well after shoulder replacement surgery

The explanations on posture and predisposition made me remember I knew the arms of my chair where too high for me and so my shoulders are being pushed upwards, predisposing me to suffer injuries. My problems started to be obvious around a year and a half after I got this chair, and I haven't been able to get rid of them completely. I had noticed problems with chairs before and I solved them by sitting on one or two books to get to a comfortable height for my arms. Now I just did that in this chair and already started feeling relief. One or two inches make all the difference in the world in chair arms height. This is the most complete explanation of shoulder problems I have ever found. Thank you very much. I already subscribed to your channel.

Excellent and detailed breakdown of shoulder anatomy and bursitis! For me, it was overhead pressing and bench pressing which initially caused the pain, but I think using my dominant hand / arm for all my daily activities, and a bad habit of sleeping on my arm in the exact position you mentioned to avoid, are preventing it from healing, even though I'm avoiding the originally injurious exercises.

This was helpful and meshes well with the doc's brief explanation. I got a diagnose of rotator cuff tendinitis and bursitis today. Doc put an ultrasound on it and could see a "capsule," something inflammed. She put a needle with some kind of medication in there. I started feeling better within an hour...and through the day I have been gaining more pain free mobility. After several hours, I can tell I am getting more and more relief.

As a follow up, several weeks later. I was 90% better at the end of a week. I'd say now I'm completely healed up except I did do a really stretched reach at the grocery store to get somethng on the top shelf and I felt a warning twinge of pain in the shoulder and stopped immediately. Other than that, 100% recovered. Whatever that medicine they put in my bursa, it really did a great job.

@@wolin289 sounds like you got a cortisone injection my friend. They are very effective but most people will end up getting them two or three times a year as they don't really heal but they do give great pain relief for many. Bottom line is that that's a great thing for you and if it works that's fantastic! A lot of people have success and just make sure that you also care for that shoulder with regard to doing some basic movements that will help strengthen it also. So happy for you!
@wolin289
@wolin289 Жыл бұрын
@@amandaluxmoore250 Sorry for the late response. Yes, the needle hurt, but the whole time I was thinking, IT'S WORTH IT if it takes away the pain. And it did for me. The length of time it took to give the shot was short. The ultrasound meant that she could go directly to the capsule and then she got out. They did a freezing spray for the skin first to numb the skin. That helps upon entry.
@wolin289
@wolin289 Жыл бұрын
@@john-carlosynostroza I hope I won't need to get a shot there any time soon. So far the shoulder is doing great. I have begun to strengthen it too. I should have asked what kind of injection it was. I was in so much pain when I got it that I would try anything. But it's doing great now. I still favor it some, choosing to do something above my head with my other arm, but that isn't because of pain. I think I got used to reaching with the other arm.

Hey John, thanks for watching and sorry to hear about your shoulder. That's awesome you have a PT friend in Eugene! I would recommend interviewing PT clinics to find one who is a board certified orthopedic specialist and also gives you 100% undivided treatment time - something we do here at my clinic in OR but is more and more rare. The new approach to tendon remodelling does require some specific techniques and careful loading and is quite different from the 'traditional' PT of recent years. Someone who also works with athletes may have this newer approach hopefully. Wish I could be more helpful but stay positive, keep working and don't give up!

It isn't nearly as painful as when I tore my rotator cuff. I've been doing a few exercises for my rotator cuff and it will hurt every couple of days. I'm not eager to lift another saddle. I no longer sleep on my left side, use my left arm to close a door behind me, swing my arm when I walk, or allow anyone to rest their head on my left shoulder. My insurance sucks because of Obamacare, so getting PT or seeing an orthopedic doctor is not an option. To male matters worse, I had surgery late January. It waa mandatory the BP be taken on the left arm. It waa 100% dismissed that Ii have bicep tendinitis. My BP was taken 5x that day. Been suffering pretty bad front shoulder pain since then.

these are really good questions and observations, and I'm sorry to hear about your ongoing problem. I'll try to work these in to a video or two soon - these are very familiar questions and many folks would probably like some guidance here as well. Sorry about your shoulder, I hope you start making some progress soon

Your doctor won't give you a cortisone shot? They are good for 6 to 8 month, from what I have read.

@@trevor_osborn 14 months later and now in debt for getting stem cell treatments. What a scam that crap is. It's been over a year and only now am I slowly turning a corner and able to do pt work. It's very minimal pt as mobility is still horrible. A couple of sports medicine professionals have told me I may never train or lift again. Degenerative tendonosis is no joke. People who have torn their muscle off the bone are better off then me. I have spoken to guys who did and they were back to training in 4 months. One guy had to have his bicep re attached and still recovered quickly. Beware if your training involves a s**t load of reps. I would find another way immediately. This was the worst year of my life because of this. And it's going so slow it could be another year before I can do anything as now I have also developed frozen shoulder . I will never do high rep calisthenics again!!!! It gave me awesome strength and a muscular body but it came with a heavy price.

I've read a little about tendenosis as being different from tendinitis. Any info you can provide would be helpful. Thanks

thx for watching, tendinitis is the inflammatory stage of injury, from the acute injury till anywhere from 3-6 weeks and occ longer, after which the tissue shows more degeneration and not inflammation and is called tendinosis. These processes can also happen side by side over long periods of time - acute inflammation and swelling in parts of the tissue with degeneration of other parts. we treat them very differently and that is a great idea for another video - thx!

Great video, very informative. Im trying to figure out what i did to my shoulder. Possibly from hitting a heavy bag frequently, or pickleball which i just started. Only certain motions hurt, such as bent over and reaching forward with my arm hanging, feels like its going to fall off for a spit second. But i can still do 50 pushups with no pain at all. Im taking a break from the heavy bag for a while in case i inflamed my bursa i guess.

Went to the physio for mainly a knee tendonitis. As treatments progressed he introduced core excercises and also rowing for some reason. Went to him on friday and was made to start rowing immediately for 10 minutes with low resistance. He came by (was busy with another patient) and put the machine on high resistance for a couple of minutes. No warm up whatsoever and jumping immediately into these battle rope exercises. This went on with lunges and other exercises. Saturday I woke up with a sour shoulder and this only aggravated. It's sunday and the pain is really bothering me. Should I ditch this physical therapist? In my opinion this guy doesn't take fatigue into account and he gives exercises back to back just to fill time.

Thanks for the information, very informative! What are your thoughts on getting a cortisone/steroid type injection into the bursar/tendon to help with recover and pain in acute cases?

Thank you for this. I was diagnosed with bursitis in my right foot metatarsal over 10 years ago. It still hurts, almost daily but especially whenever I go barefoot, or wear shoes that have no support also I cannot wear any kind of a heel anymore. Any chance of it healing? I've been to lots of docs over the years and cannot afford to go to specialists. Any advice?

I wonder. I had hip bursitis for 3 years. I used a shock wave therapy for 6 weeks and have been healed for 2 years. Can shock wave therapy work on the shoulder?

I have poor posture. It has taken me a long time to ,understand my poor posture has caused my shoulder impingement. The bursa and a tendon are both aggravated. Overloaded it when l was ill did not help either.
