I have a 18i20 gen 3 - bought it in 2019, and still very good! What I like of the 4th gen, is the graphic showing your output track playing like on the Clarett models. Nice little extra to have! I will keep the gen 3 a bit longer cause works fine!

Two notes. You can trigger the auto-gain from your phone/ipad remote app. Also for the monitoring of the audio, you have to disable input monitoring inside reaper, or if you hear the physical Analog 1 from the focusrite control, you can mute that from the mixer and routing setting.

I just upgraded to the 4th gen 18i20 from the Saffire Pro 40 that I’ve used for8 years. I didn’t want to upgrade, but my new Mac Studio food not want to play with the Saffire. Long story short: a few weeks in and I love it

I've got a 2nd gen 18i20. I love it except for the lack of integrated loopback. I'd like to be an octopre for more inputs but there is not way to monitor and remote/midi adjust track input levels.

That's a bummer! You can monitor them in your DAW software though right?

I think your issue with monitoring is the monitor choices on the individual channels in Reaper. I think it's the speaker on the default theme
@QuestForGear28 күн бұрын
Yeah you're right. It was working at it should. I was more worried that it was doing some 'double monitoring' like the Apollo's do.... as in - they output no by default - and then again in Reaper. So yeah. It was a moment of over and under thinking it.

@QuestForGear I hope it works out, I bet it sounds great!

So far so good! I don't want to dunk on the Zoom too bad... but... it was harsh and sterile. The Focusrite is already warmer and more hi-fi. And this 4th gen internal interface vs the 3rd gen is a HUGE improvement.

Thanks for sharing your Unbox and Setup You can take a look at some of the Focusrite YT channel videos, they show how to use the Auto Gain feature very well, and also I think you can use a tablet/iPad/iPhone From their website: "Multi-channel Auto Gain Set levels for up to eight preamps simultaneously with multi-channel Auto Gain, ideal for multi-mic or full band setups. Configure multi-channel Auto Gain via the desktop app or remotely on iOS and Android, allowing you to stay focused on the performance with fewer trips to the computer." Good luck!

Hey man, nice videos, just watched a few of them this afternoon. Fellow Canadian here. Have you had any experience with the 2nd generation 18i20? I am looking at a used one for $299. I wanna record my band live off the floor so my 2 input Scarlett isn't gonna cut it. Would love your opinion. Thanks!

I own a third and a 4th... sorry never a second. Is the used one from somewhere you can return it? I'd be shocked if you had any issues with it, but you just never know.

@QuestForGear totally it's from L&M. I haven't picked it up yet but for $299 I figured it's worth a try. Thanks man!

With Alt you can choose between monitor 1-2 or 3-4,but is it also possible to play them together for example when I have a subwoofer , I want to turn on or off .

My 4i4 didn’t do the relay click and slow,boot. What’s different?

Audient EVO 16 for €425 or Scarlett 18i20 4th Gen for €699? Are the extra software bundles with the Scarlett worth it, or is the Audient EVO 16 enough when using Logic Pro with built-in DAW effects? What would you recommend? THX
@QuestForGear28 күн бұрын
The EVO was on my list... but I didn't get it because they charge extra for the rack ears and you have to go find some. Cutting corners like that is a red flag for me. I have no idea how the EVO sounds or operates but the rack ears was a deal breaker for me.
@haligalo597928 күн бұрын
@@QuestForGear Thanks for replying so quickly! I’ll just put the EVO or the Scarlett on the table :) Let’s see, maybe someone has experience with the EVO and can share more about it.

I get the impression that they sound great. Please let me know what you think if you get one, would love to hear what you think.

Snagged a used gen 3 at Guitar Center for 370 bucks. I use that and a Yamaha MG10XUF on an aggregate. I had to cut down on the aggregates. Logic Pro shit the bed because apparently 50 inputs/outs was a bit much for it.(Just wanted a bunch of sends for outboard gimmicks) Kind of bummed to hear your impression of the Live Track. I wanted something like the 18i20 but with its own channel channel strips and faders. I suppose I'll start accumulating DAW controllers. The extra relays may have something to do with the auto gain function by the way. I may be full off shit. I dunno.
