Just snagged one off eBay. I actually like the dedicated power supply - my portable setup doesn’t handle a lot of bus power on the laptop ports well, so less stress that the sound will fall out mid set.

Nice video and awesome accent man! :D I am looking to buy a "beginners" setup just so I can record some vocals over already recorded music or maybe set up something simple to record ideas in the practise room. I was thinking of going with the 2i2 + CL 1 Cloud Lifter + Shure SM7b, since that seems to be the common way to go. Now I was wondering, since I am looking at a 6i6 for almost the same price as the 2i2 online right now, is more in thise case better? Like what exactly does the 6i6 offer more than the 2i2? Can I plug in more microphones or is it only the additional midi and line inputs? It looks like the pre-amp inputs are only two as well, right? Can I use the line ins on the back to record say a guitar or something if I channel it through a guitar amp? Or would that be too much or sound like crap for some reason? Thanks in advance and have a great weekend! Cheers from Germany

PhilZeGerman the 6i6 would give you more recording options. Yes, you could plug in a guitar behind and play it. Only pet peeve about it is that it must be adapter powered.

Should I go for the 2i4 or the 6i6? Am I able to use the 6i6 without using MixControl at all? I already have Ableton and i don't want to deal with another software. I just want to record my instruments (guitar, bass, midi Keyboard) and use my SP404sx as an external effect. But also I want to buy something future-oriented, because of possible additions to my gear. All i'm interested in are the I/O. It woudn't be that bad, if i had to change the cabels often, but if the 6i6 works without MixControl i think i would spend the 50 more bucks for the comfort, not always having to change the cabels. Thank you for your help! I hope it's understandable.

From the 6i6 you need a TRS jack male connector for each output (1, 2, 3 and 4) on the back. By TRS I mean a balanced output. On the other end of the balanced cable you can either have an XLR male or TRS jack male connector. Hope this helps

Hello, I am considering purchasing this item used for $270 Canadian. I know this is a slightly older model, however I was wondering if you would recommend me purchasing this item even in 2021 for that price? I will be using Logic Pro X. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks for the great review!

Hey Reuben!! Would it be possible to do a side by side audio comparison between the komplete 6 and 6i6, say you open a project in your daw with some vst's, which one has the better latency? Record some vocals/or guitar or any live instruments just so we can compare the sound of both!? I've seen so many ppl asking 6i6 vs Komplete 6 , aside from the road aspect (personally, it woulnd be a big deal on the road to plug the powersupply of the scarlett so it's not the main factor imo), Which one would you recommand in terms of quality/latency/stability. My biggest fear in playing live is having the audio glitch / crash while performing. Is there one less likely to do so ?! Thanks !!!!

Hi Appreciate if can help me. Here is my problem. I have a Focusrite 6i6 and Yamaha MX49 synthesizer and Micrphone. I am using Cubase9. Before i have a microphone, i used to connect MX49 directly to computer. Now I connected everything through Audio interface. Here is my setup details. 1)Microphone is connected to Audio interface XLR on the front side 2)Connected two MIDI ports of MX49 to Audio interface on the back 3)Connected Monitor jack to back side of interface 4)Connected a wire between MX49 output and Audio interface XLR front panel. When i am sing and play the keyboard i can listen on the monitors both the things but when i am trying to record it on the cubase only the input from microphone is recorded but not keyboard. Note:Keyboard click signals are being displayed in the toolbar of cubase I have been trying it from past 2-3 days. Searching on the forums but no luck. I can share the picture if you need it. Appreciate if you can help on this. Please let me know if you need any inputs from my side. Thanks KVB

On the scarlett 6i6, there are four simultaneous audio inputs. The other two inputs refer to the MIDI in and SPIF in

2 mic pre in, 2 line in and 1 S/PDIF stereo in (considers 2 digital in). MIDI is only a pass through, not an audio source, so don’t consider as part of 6in6out...

Why they say it has 6 inputs when there are only 2 in the front and 2 in the back? And ok 1 S/PDIF input what I dont even know what it does. But even if that is also some kind of input, its still 5 not 6 inputs, isnt it? I thought 6 inputs means 6 instruments like mics, guitars, keyboards etc., but I see only 4 I can plug in.. what I am doing wrong?

I have got a question : can you record like using both front XLR Combos 1 and 2 (simultaneously) - but I mean having 48V Phantom microphone in XLR (1) for voice recording, and at the same time recording an electric guitar connected to XLR (2) which is not 48V Phantom (obviously). I can see just one 48V Phantom button. Does this button control XLR (1) or XLR (2)? Or does it control both? Or can this be set in the "Focusrite Control software"? I do not want to record just two 48V Phantom microphones, or just two instruments. I need to make "combined" recordings". Can anyone answer this question for me? Thanks.

I've had my 6i6 for a several months now. One of the reasons I chose it over the Native Instruments Audio 6 was the external power supply. If you plan on being mobile that would obviously be a negative, but if you're just using it in your home studio, I think it's better to have a dedicated power supply for powering the phantom power and other features. I have a friend who has the Audio 6 and he's never had any issues, but I'd still rather my interface had a dedicated power supply. I don't know, maybe I'm just superstitious. Regardless, the Focusrite works wonderfully. I'm using it with Reason and have it set to the lowest possible latency setting and I never experience any issues at all. If you're on the fence, buy it. You won't regret it.

I already updated the Scarlett mix control, but the new version 1.9 is even worse. It doesn't show me any choice to change the buffer size, so I decided to reinstall the version 1.8. I'm hearing particular type of saturation after recording the audio through this , not able to get where the lies, in interface or my Daw or my microphone .

can you share your setup with us? Shouldn't be your DAW. Either your microphone or interface.

@@reubenchng Samson condensor Microphone wire to Focusrite Interface (6i6), I ensure that voice doesn't clip before recording. I'm recording in Fl studio, clicking option - As an audio clip. Artefacts/saturation in consonants isn't audible before using Newtone, but after its all messed up. No clarity in vocals. Sample rate 44100 Hz and Resampling quality - 128 point.

@@vikaskaushal9389 Ahh, so if the dry vocals are alright. Then it should be the character of your plugins?

@@reubenchng thats why im trying to figure out. I have started learning melodyne so that I can check if the issue persists in other plugins or not .

This interface sucks, do not buy it! The Monitor control knob that controls the volume only controls the output volume of output 1 and 2, if you have a second pair of speakers in outputs 3 and 4, you have to lower the volumes of outputs 3 and 4 from the Focusrite control software. However when you lower the speakers on the software it also lowers the volumes on your headset. So if you have headphones connected in the front outputs and you lower the volumes in the software for outputs 1 and 2 it lowers the volume on the front headset of output 1... if you lower the volume in the software for outputs 3 and 4 it also lowers the volume of the front headset output 2. SO If you are recording vocals at home and need to cut off the volumes of the speakers and just use the headphones, you cant use the interface to lower all your speakers, you gotta physically get up and turn off each studio monitor speaker, if you use the software it will cut off all sounds coming from the speakers it will also do it to the headphones as well... the physical monitor knob on the front of the interface only controls output 1 and 2... this is the dumbest thing about this interface...
