Im planning to buy a mini keyboard only to have a way to write melodies and bass lines fast on my desk because I thought a real keyboard would be too ergonomically awkward because too tall behind my computer keyboard, dno if it’s a good idea
@reubenchngАй бұрын
My thoughts: Mini keyboards are affordable. Compare that to the value you get from writing those melodies: priceless, could be a banger. So it's a good buy.

@ thanks but budget isn’t a concern for midi controllers, just convenience

@reubenchng my problem is that my PC does not detect my Launchpad Pro MK3. I had one in september, and I sent it back for replacement. Over 3 months later now, I am having the same issue with the replacement. I can not find any videos or posts on this issue, and it's honestly driving me nuts. I'm not sure if you'll have the answer or not, but any insight is very much appreciated.

Reuben, I just wanted to let you know that I came here from the audio mentor website, where in 2018, I read an article of yours where you featured the Dell XPS 15 9650 in your list of best laptops for music production. I bought it, and have had many problems ever since. 6 years of stress (despite having upgraded the RAM to 32GB). Programmes run with latency, & the awful graphics card has frame-rate skipping issues because it can't cope with visuals even on the lowest graphics settings (which means writing music to video in a DAW is not possible). And if I want to play Kontakt library instruments, I have to wait long times for patches to load, & often I can forget about playing more than one note at a time without it cutting out & overloading the Cubase CPU meter. I think that in the future, you need to be careful when you make a list like that, because real-life people will click on your link, & may make one of the worst decisions of their lives based on your advise, paying with a lot of hard-earned money.
@reubenchngАй бұрын
Sorry for your experience. I hope it's better for you now. I'm not sure why it is like that for you - but usually the culprit is a slow hard disk and the lack of an audio interface. Will do better. Have not updated the site for many years, and began to look into it again lately.

Thanks for the good video and details, Reuben. An item to note, if you placer your items in sunlight that is coming through window galss, that glass will block a great deal of the UV light and prevent it from coming through to accelerate the process. Direct (outdoor) sunlight will give your a much higher percentage of UV light for the process.🌅

hello. Thanks for the video. How do you evaluate the quality of the preamps of this mixer-recorder? In terms of noise and ambient sound In terms of record high and low frequencies as well as midranges? And is the phantom power button separate for each line? or not And the last question, regardless of the recording features, is this mixer better or the Yamaha mg line mixer. For example, the Yamaha mg12xu thank you.
@reubenchng3 ай бұрын
Let me be honest with my evaluation. I evaluated it based on my experience recording on a few pre-amps and listening. The LiveTrak L-8 isn't the best honestly. It's decent and does an OK job for more hobbyists, part-time producers. But it's definitely not for those is pro, pro audio. No, phantom power is not for each line. And it depends on what your definitions of better recording is. The Yamaha MG line has better pre-amps for sure. Where it's lacking is probably on the digital side. LiveTrak is a 12-in / 4-out USB audio interface. The MG line if not mistaken is 2-in/2-out

They don't work... Mics pick up sound infront of them and cancel sounds behind them.... If you want a better results, get an acoustic foam behind you and will be shock with the great improvement.

I have both; the rodecaster pro i and the Zoom P8. I am still having issues trying to upload files from the P8to my desktop computer. I keep getting a message that says: "Sorry we can't locate audio storage. try again later. I like the simplicity of the P8, but the Rodcaster is so much easier when it come to loading the sound pads and transferring files.
