Indie Game suggestion : SANABI. It’s a a pixel art 2D platformer with a grapple hook mechanic made by 5 Korean college students, and it’s amazing. The grapple hook mechanic and smooth and rewarding to master. The pixel art and animation is so expressive and breathtaking. The soundtrack absolutely BOPS. The dialogue and story is a bit lengthy but there’s Elon Musk slander so that’s cool. It’s such a hidden gem and I love it to bits, so I really recommend it ✨

@@tankenjoyer1891 I wrote all of this at like 6 AM before I went to bed so maybe this won't make sense, however; Don't buy games at full prices. If anything only buy it if you've already tried it out and have been pulled in. I know Rain World is infuriatingly hard towards the end but the game's definitive art direction and non-linear story telling are well worth the rage in my opinion. The only game that has rivaled its presentation (in my game library) is the souls series. It definitely is a flawed game but it also serves a niche that no other game serves that keeps pulling me in after 300 hours. The game also has an extremely talented modding community that has produced amazing mods that can tailor the game to a casual experience or even define the game's formula.

This might sound weird but so many of these "indie doom inspired fps retro graphics" games feel so samey. Like it's just: Run around, shoot, upgrade, boss, repeat. Ever since Overkill (Overrated) did everyone does it.

I understand where this comes from, but there's also still a market for these types of games. The purest form of this is checking out how many map packs for Doom 2 (1994) or Quake (1996) are still being made, and how many of those are huge products both visually and combat-wise. Those are free and have been for decades but it's clear people like the formula.
