This works, but involves a lot of work. I found I could replace the passenger side one easily from the hood. The driver side one required pulling out the battery, but still easier than crawling underneath.

That “ weather cover” actually has 3 screws and can be completely removed. While I like the way you did it, I find that way causes me and my bigger arms to get scratched up pretty bad. Mentioning to use the old robber gasket from the bulb you’ve removed is what separates your videos from others. The rubber gaskets on led or aftermarket halogens tend to be thicker and firmer making getting the bulbs into the headlight housing’s 3 tab slots almost impossible. I’ll be doing my fog lights on my 2017 Highlander today as the bulbs in there are OEM and even though I am not one of those people who constantly runs the fogs the bulbs have at least 100 hours total run time on them.

I just wanted to update on my fog light led install. I actually did it the way you suggested on the weather cover removal, but guess what…….. I forgot your advice about the plastic restriction on the bulb housing and I struggled for over 30 minutes to “ figure it out “. Finally it clicked in my head about removing the plug first and it went smoothly after that.

The daytime running light (d.r.l.) is in an all in one housing with the fog light. It is an illumimated led strip directly underneath the fog light lens that is on during the daytime when the auto headlight function is turned on at the switch located on the steering column stalk. The Limited and Limited Platinum trim has the d.r.l. set up that way. Yours must be an XLE model and those daytime running lights are illuminated in the headlight housing up top. @@trackpalmer

I believe its the same setup, you must have a Limited. You can access the back of the housing from underneath like what is shown here in the video to change out the bulb. I haven't looked in depth at it yet but the fog light housing looks the same between the Limited and the XLE. Except the d.r.l. led strip is missing on the XLE and the lower trims. I know the weather covers attached to the bumper and the apron are all the same as I have had that grey apron on the bottom that goes across replaced. The d.r.l. is located inside the headlight bezels on the lower trim levels. It's kind of silly but thats how it is setup. I usually keep the auto headlights switched off during the day so the led d.r.l. strips are off.. they dont really seem necessary at all.

Not all LEDs are the same. I see them on trucks too. I hope your truck doesn’t have any LED headlights
