This is one of my favorites ever, Robin! I don't know if this is "appropriate" and I LOVE the Wildflower brush but it's expensive for beginners. Similar ones are available on AliExpress (and probably eBay, Amazon, etc.) for about $1.50 USD and they're very good. Frankly, they look exactly the same, too. When I first started, I used cheap brushes and cut them or made do. I started buying more expensive ones as I improved. I'm only mentioning it because Robin talks about girls starting out and low cost options. Sometimes, when you buy good brushes, like Robin's, the difference is SOOOOO incredible it actually radically improves your art.
@robinmosesnailart7 жыл бұрын
thank you for this and i find this appropriate surely. for me, wildflowers has been so kind in helping me understand the industry......without her, i would be lost still. for those who are just getting started, i keep all of the cheap brush videos that i would use before i made mine up on my faq playlist and you can still buy the pink 'cut down' type of brushes on ebay for a couple dollars...and now the wildflower mentioned above. Any product can be used if the dream is big enough..... i am just glad women are painting and finding joy in that. i agree that my brushes are so much easier but even i wouldnt suggest getting them right out of the gate. i believe that you understand the luxury of a great product once you have really USED UP a vast amount of products and made them work.....once that happens..and you get a good product......omg, its like pure heaven. LOL...i wanted to create that for you guys.....i am so happy in my lifetime i got a chance to!!!!! thank you for this info and sending my love to you margie!

OMG ! loved every second of this vid. they are amazing. you've out done yourself with these. i am hooked on using pigments. old blush and eyeshadows are great. sidewalk chalk gives a very soft pastel back ground. i ordered a bunch of really cheap eyeshadows from e bay and now have at least 100 pigments to choose from. thanks so much for giving us all of these wonderful ideas. :)
@robinmosesnailart7 жыл бұрын
i used that same 100 pigment collection since i can remember.....i got a new one a few years ago and the pigmentation is so much better than the one i started with. i cant wait to see what the future brings. the make up keeps getting more dense and full of color. its amazing.

Robin I am having a difficult time finding a video on how to make pigment for nails. Do you have a particular video that you liked?
@robinmosesnailart7 жыл бұрын
pigment=eyeshadow..........you can use any eyeshadow or loose eyeshadow you see. pigment is just color that transfers from jar to nail or face. for example...you can have 2 eyeshadows....same color. you swatch it and one barely shows on your skin and the other is super bright....but they are the same color?!?! why? one has more pigment in the pot of color. some eyeshadows are highly highly pigmented and you only need a little touch for your whole eye....others seem like you keeep on trying to get it to go on your eye and it never does!!!!!! so, pigments were NEVER used on nails ....i used them first in 92 when i was pregnant with my daughter. a make up artist i worked with wanted to put blue 'pigments' on my eye....i saw it was loose glittery shadow i had never seen before. it had always been flat in a compact. i let her and it was so bold...i borrowed a spoonful and mixed it with paint and it was awful.....i mixed it with clear polish and it was amazing and i began experimenting right away....for 26 years i have been doing it now and its never gotten boring :D i hope this helps you and thumbs up this so others who might be confused can learn :D search "how do i fix my broken powder" to see videos on how to make your loose pigments into compact pigments :D xoxoxoxo

hahahaha that is so funny to me. BACK IN THE DAY.....i couldnt find any glue. it was extinct. i was endlessly searching for any foil glue available on earth. i cannot tell you how many tears ive cried to try and get glue for foil so i could teach.......the glue people i found were so unhelpful....the people i begged to help wouldnt listen....and now its just everywhere....pigments everywhere........foils everywhere.....i feel like i missed out on being a billionaire...but, in a way.....i wouldnt trade because the more i see, the more i like what i personally do....and it kept me painting instead of selling nail products....for me it might have saved my life. :D its crazy but you just never know what the fates bring to your life. :D

haha! thank you so much terry! what excites me................is that when i first uploaded this....everything i used was so new and so foreign that no one watched it, no one understood it and no one commented or liked it and i thought i was crazy or just not good and the truth was....i had to be patient and let the industry create more products and have this type of art become more mainstream and when i read the comments today, i am so so happy....i was kind of hurt the first time because i worked so so hard on getting these ideas out and now for the first time i think others are getting as excited as i was and it makes me feel so happy. *huge hug* thank you for always supporting me terry, you are amazing and kind and i adore you :D you know that :D haha have a great week!!!!!

Robin, your creativity is a blessing. But again, as you said we try to make this profession as serious as it is when art is involved. how difficult is to charge people for a designs like this. don't you find this issue a little difficult?? people feels going to a Chinese palace is cheaper and get it done there. what do u think??
@robinmosesnailart6 жыл бұрын
Liliana Mejia what I think is very simple for me. you just focus on your own work and not about what anyone else is doing. If you love painting and you charge what your clients can afford they will always come back. When they come back they bring friends and family and you build your clients and your money slowly, but you will build them.
