I already do this with the regular foil quill. That is how I touch up thing that didn't transfer. Just be careful because it can get hot if held for a long period of time.

Hello! We highly recommend trying the Freestyle Pens as they're design specifically for hand writing and drawing. They're ergonomic, easy to hold, don't get too hot, and the tips are tapered for writing/drawing.

@@WeR_Makers I already have your original battery operated pen that I use with stencils and it works fine, but can be awkward. That is why when I used my pen quill and if it misses a spot because of how I taped it, I use it freehand...which is how I discovered that it works just like my battery operated heat pen...your company. So thank you, but I am good. :-)

Hello! The Fuse tool does not work the same. The heat setting is different and will burn through the foil.

Very cool but this has me confused. I regularly use foiling techniques with toner/transfer gel and a laminator, how does the Foil Quill work without the toner/transfer gel? Are the foil sheets different or is it something that the Quill itself does?

Hi! The Foil Quill transfers the foil using heat and pressure, so the foil is a different technology than the toner/transfer gel foil.

Laminators melt the toner to attach the foil to those areas but not everywhere since you use a cover sheet to prevent direct heat

Hi! Sometimes it doesn’t transfer well if there’s a sheen or gloss on the leather. Matte leather works best. Also, be sure you’re allowing the tool to heat up for at least 10 minutes and that you have a consistent power source (wall adapter). Also, the foil needs to be shiny/color side facing up. Hello! Good question. The Foil Quill and Freestyle Pens are not washable on fabric or leather. We haven't tested staying power with weather proofing spray so we can't guarantee the results, but it might be worth giving it a try!

Most problems with the foil not transferring properly are due to 1) the pen not heated up completely; 2) Some colors of foil need more pressure and slower speed to transfer well; 3) the foil transfers best on smooth leather that has no sheen. OMGosh what a great idea. However look for a small silicone pocket or small tray they make for hot curling irons etc to lay on or into. The tips get VERY HOT. you might need to set down and if it's near vinyl in your car and cars even the most lux models have vinyls it could melt or put a hole into it. I have some lovely mdesign small trays that are perfect for setting the free style pens on to cool as a portable item. I camp and have numerous USB banks so ideal for traveling or waiting iin line for kiddos in the car or out. And yes of course anything that powers your basic USB items including most phones will work with this. So car adaptor plugs with USB ports as will as the many power banks made out there. Now with Covid I suppose newer challenges have popped up and I bet you are creatively thinking of NEWER solutions too. Stay safe and find joy.

Hi! Check out our Foil Quill playlist here on KZbin. There are lots of ways to use the Freestyle Pens if you don't love your handwriting! You can stamp directly onto the foil with permanent ink and trace, you can trace over printed copy paper, and we have a set of stencils you can use as well.

Hello! You can print on thin copy paper and trace onto the foil directly. You can also stamp directly onto the foil and trace that way.

I've purchased numerous tools & supplies from American Crafts. My brother was visiting when my package arrived today. I raved about the quality of the company. Then I couldn't even get the pen to work right. I'm very sad that I will be returning it. The pen did not transfer foil very well at all. I tried numerous things. Also watched videos of people using it. No bueno 😞Highly disappointed.

@@sevenandthelittlestmew I am out of town, when I get back, I will experiment using tissue/tracing paper with foil and foil pen. .The material that has design, either printed or handtraced/drawn has to not burn with the heat tip, and still transmit enough heat to transfer the foil. I tried a piece of the carrier sheet that the foil is on after you lift all foil off, that works, BUT doesn't easily take pen/marker, ink, etc
