Thank for showing the foil glue that does NOT need a UV light.

Excellent! I have those thin deep colored foil strips and when I applied the base coat to encapsulate it, the colors ran all over. I don't have gel polish or a uv lamp. I want the mani to last. Do I need the gel and a lamp? Can you help? Thank you!

Do you have a smudge free top coat? I will sometimes do a smudge free top coat (or two) then after it’s completely dry I will activate it again then dip top coat. You can try any regular Polish top coat if you don’t have a smudge free one and see if that works.

@@TheNailNerdJournalThank you so much for replying!! I'm not sure if I follow, but this is what it seemed to me: After last dip, activating, and filing, I use the foil. I don't have a no smudge top coat but could get one if I knew what it was. Otherwise I can try the dip liquid top coat (or any regular top coat) over the dry foiled nail, dip into clear powder to encapsulate and apply dip liquid activator over that? (then buff out?) I apologize if I got this completely wrong. If all else fails, I might just get a gel top coat and an LED lamp so I don't ruin these designs. Thank you!!!!

@@laurahead8135 so yea just like in the video you apply the foil, then to keep the dip base from smearing the colors, you do a layer or two or regular Polish top coat or smudge free top coat. Smudge free top coat is what you use when you do stamping to keep the Polish from smudging. Maniology.com has some that’s really good. I have a code NAILNERD10 to get you 10% off. Or you can see if regular Polish top coat will work. I would just not brush over it too much and try not to touch the brush to your foil to help to keep it from bleeding. Then after the Polish is dried, finish how you normally would with your dip top coat (activate, wait, dip top coat x2 or whatever your process is). The dip top coat will just help your mani to last longer and protect your foil more. You don’t have to encapsulate in clear dip powder if you go this route because that step is just to protect the foil from the activator messing up the foil. I hope that makes sense and helps to clarify everything but if you still have questions, I’m happy to help! You can also DM me on my Instagram account if that would be easier for you.

@@TheNailNerdJournal Thank you! I'll jump over to that link. I really want to start stamping again, and that sounds great! Am I just adding a smudge free top coat over the foil, letting dry and then applying the dip base liquid, clear dip powder, activator and dip top coat? Or is that not the idea. I've never activated a top coat or dipped with a top coat liquid, which seems like what you meant. I'm so sorry, but do you have a step by step once the foil is added? I do want to encapsulate the foil in the clear dip powder because it lasts so long. I really appreciate your help! (and I swear I'm not stupid! Lol - just a tad new to mixing mediums) Thank you again. - Laura

@@laurahead8135 no problem at all. I totally I understand. Sometimes trying to explain a process can be tricky. I do have a video of the process while doing stamping. So it would be the same. Check out my video that has the flower stamping. It’s a layered stamping tutorial. So you would use the same process at the end for the top coat. No clear dip powder necessary. It would just be foil, smudge free top coat, activator, dip top coat. That’s how it would layer but check out that video to see it in action.
