FOILDRIVE FIRST DAY

It was the longest week ever after I received the notice my equip had been sent.
#Foildrive GEN 2 MAX and two sport MAX batteries for my twin boys Aaron and Sean.
We opted for the 15cm cable as our main aim is that of waves followed by #pumpfoil and testing the limits on light wind #wingfoil which has become an obsession of mine..
Lucky for me it all arrived a day early, the wife was away with a friend in Paris so we fully occupied the lounge, we spread out all the kit, instructions and U TUBE Foildrive tutorials on the computer not forgetting to start charging the three batteries.
Watched the Gen 2 set up video for the 10th time and then set to work, section of video followed by appropriate step. About 2 hours later after being very precise following the guide lines , pulled the trigger and Bingo the prop spun..off to bed trying visualise the first flights planned for the glassy flat water forecasted for the morning.
Feeling nervous but loving the feeling of trying something new . I chose my 56 liter #kt Drifter with my #Armstrong #HA980 and 180 speed tail, 72 cm mast. Its a set up i knew well for small wave prone foiling, the mast i put in the same position as for prone.
Time to get wet , laying down i slowly moved away from the beach and messed with the throttle control. I had set everything up on the APP , real simple and the beginner setting. It all felt smooth and easy to increase speed slowly.
On standing up I was blown away by the front foot pressure I needed and moved both feet forward , planing and riding came easy and after levelling out on foil I could easily move my feet back to a normal position. The transfer to free flight was not so easy and something I will need more time to get to grips with, I think mainly getting used to the increased wieght.
I could see my boys chomping at the bit to get a go so it was hand over time. Aaron went first as always and Sean watched closely at his mistakes, knowing he would then be able go straight in. Aaron struggled for 5 mins with a heavy trigger finger, as soon as he was more progressive with the throttle he was up and away with a huge smile . 5 mins later and he was up on free flight and pumping , don’t you just hate how quick they get it.
Sean was up next and as expected more or less straight into low flight under power, Sean like me struggled with the hop up onto foil, Aaron is far ahead of us two as he is competent in ladder starts and pumping.
We were all stoked and now hungry for some waves, the first question for the boys was ….Dad …… we need another two!!! …
