Marie Bingaman there are tutorials showing you how to use the foil without the printer. You can even use it without a laminator!

The project was lovely and relatively easy to do. On looking on line the dies will cost $46 to purchase. A lot to spend for just one project.

No need to buy the dies. Just stamp your sentiments or even better when you print your design print along the sentiment too. Like I did for the green Christmas tree card, or the last one.

I wonder if foiling this way would work on black cardstock. Sure it'd be impossible to see the original printing (since it'd be black on black) to put the foil over, but I reckon the contrast of shine on black would be worth it?

GPhoenix08 great idea! I also think that the foiling would resist water based inks..... so that would be another thing to try out.... so many ideas so little time! 😂

That's does sound beautiful GPhoenix08 and you got me thinking about how cool it would look if the image to be foiled was a pattern (shiny pattern on the dull black cardstock)! I'm pretty sure it would work, as long as you printed the image using a laser printed onto the black cardstock (and the cardstock wasn't too heavy so that it could still go thru the printer...I'm guessing about 65lb or 'maybe' 80lb). I also find it helps getting a more solid and crisp image by putting a paper shim inside the folder as it gives the rollers inside the laminator more pressure. Definitely something to think about and very creative idea...thanks for sharing and happy crafting!

this is an old laminator, not sure if this model is in the market any more, but it's a cheap one and it works great. Anything you can find will work, you just need to make a couple of test runs to see how hot it needs to be and how thick the paper.

Did you use card stock or print the images on copy paper

You can do both depending on your printer and how thick paper it can take. I used thin white cardstock, probably 80lb. And that's just because my printer does not perform well when I try to feed 120lb or 100lb cardstock. But then I stick this panel on a card base so it's not flimsy at all.

I was wondering if you wanted to add stamped sentiments to these images, if those would work with foiling too? I have never tried it before. Wondering if you had/if you knew? Such beautiful and elegant cards! =) Thanks for sharing!

It has to be stamped with something sticky for the foil to glue on to. There is a sticky powder that works like embossing powder but it is sticky when heated.... so you can apply the foil on top. But I didn't have good results with it so I don't used it. It's by Ranger if you want to try it out.

Πόσο όμορφες έγιναν!!!!! Έχω μία απορία... Εάν άφηνες τις εικόνες όπως ήταν, με μαύρο φόντο και λευκά γράμματα/εικόνα, το μεταλλικό φύλλο(δεν ξέρω αν υπάρχει ελληνική λέξη για το foil :P) θα έπιανε σε όλη τη μαύρη επιφάνεια, και θα έμεναν τα γράμματα ή η εικόνα,λευκά;;;
