Thank you Joanne for sharing this technique. Once you showed your paper shims it filled in the blank in my head on how to do partial foiling. The only thing I would do differently is to protect the background paper by making a mask with thin copy paper of the shape and place it over the background, then the foil, then the plate over the shims. Just a suggestion to minimize getting foil on the background. Again thank you for sharing...I learned something new!

I watched your video on doing the heart. It is so wonderful to be able to foil just on the heart. I would like to know if you ever use shims when foiling? Is it better not to use them?
@AnotherJoUK3 жыл бұрын
I nearly always use card shims when I'm foiling - have a look at my beginners guide videos.

@@rescuesandgooddeeds1849 I try to do techniques in my videos rather than promoting specific foiling plates so that they can be used as inspiration for how to use new foiling plates as they come along.

Sometimes that over foiling will come up with sticky tape - just dab, dab the area with the sticky tape - sometimes one dab is all you need and then sometimes it takes several dabs - just depends on how big your area is - practice on a scrap and see which sticky tape works best
