The first true fighter plane. Changed the game in the air so greatly they referred to that time period as the “Fokker Scourge”, and the allies called their own planes “Fokker fodder”. After about 6 months the Entente finished their own forward firing planes, and the playing field leveled while the arial arms race began in earnest.

Well this one at least got ailerons. The originals had to roll with a complex systems of wires, which made the wings warp. Crazy stuff... and they used them in combat.

The Sopwith Pup and the DH2 were the first planes that the Brits put up that could deal to this. And from the French it was the Nieuport 11. I think the Nieuport 17 came later than the Eindecker era. Until those showed up this Eindecker just had a field day shooting Allied planes out of the sky with its synchronised machine gun.

@kreeperfox22798 ай бұрын

@7055474 жыл бұрын

Presumably the guy flying it didn’t fancy dying. It’s still got no dihedral and no fixed tail surfaces, so it’s dangerous enough.
