I wish Samsung would just make a special spen model with all of the ZF5 specs and an improved crease. Then people can buy what case they want and not one dictated to buy... it's called "build what your consumers want and give consumers independence in freedom of options." I own a fold, but I like carrying my device with the thinnest case or none at times. Samsung has become so big that they stopped listening to their own customers/consumers like Apple... Force me to buy 40-90 case just to have a pen, no thanks. First foldable with integrated S-pen might be worth my money. Have a fold already...

I'm a Fold user for the past 2 years. I actually hate that google is splitting the apps in two. I don't want a big screen to then be forced to use the real estate of a regular phone all the time. I like that Samsung just makes the normal app bigger. That's one of the main reason I didn't pick the Pixel Fold over Fold 5 when upgrading this year.

Google made a mistake by pricing the Pixel Fold the same as the Fold 4/Fold5. Their hardware clearly isn't good enough to cost that much money.

Other than blindly parroting "tensor sucks" why is the hardware on the Pixel any less worth the price than the Z Fold? Every trusted review have had nothing but good things to say regarding the hardware. Don't get me wrong, Samsung definitely have some merit with charging more for their device when they have sort of pioneered the form factor and certainly have a few neat software tricks.

8:38 all you have to do is turn the Z Fold into landscape view to get the dual pane UI in Keep (and other apps like Gmail). This is because Google is lazy and coded the apps to respond to device orientation rather than viewport size with regard to triggering the tablet UI.

Like you, I prefer the Pixel Fold's form factor but it's not worth taking over the Z Fold 5 given the software shortcomings. I'm kinda considering trying my first large screen foldable, but they're still kind of out of my price range.

The form factor of the Pixel Fold was enough for me to not get the Fold 5. I love the Pixel Fold. It's only 2 ounces heavier than the Fold 4, so the heft doesn't bother me. I never used Dex so I don't miss it. I don't regret getting the PF over the Fold 5. 😊

I went into a T-Mobile store and checked out the Pixel Fold and it looks nice. How ever I'm waiting for the OnePlus Open. I'm still using my former President Trump pre band 2018 Hauwei Mate 20X (7.2in screen) it's battery and UI is still great.

Agreed. I moved from z fold 4 to Google pixel fold. This youtube review downplayed the importance of having a usable cover screen. That alone is reason enough to avoid a Samsung line, for every day people who don't need crazy computer processing power in their phone, but do need the ability to comfortably use their phone without having to open it up.

Pixel Fold does have floating windows, you just tap the icon of the app you want when it's open in card view and select "Freeform"

I sold my Fold 4 and switched over to the Google fold because of the front cover display. I found that the Samsung front display is too skinny for me to the point that I always opened it and never used the front display except for making phone calls. Quite simply the Google Fold's form factor was the straw that broke Samsung's back. I highly recommend anyone deciding between these two phones go try them both in person before deciding.

I love the honor magic v2 but after much internal debate ordered the fold 5. My wife's flip 3 has been solid and I figure by gen 5 Sammy have sorted out the bugs. Honor is an unknown quantity when it comes to build quality and support here in Australia, which does provoke some anxiety. Not that Samsung has a good history of after sales support. China is nailing design at the moment; I suspect my next phone and car will be Chinese. Keep up the good work Ben!

Yes, in sunny climates that could be added value. Here in the UK, it is moot as we have a more temperate climate. Rarely do I use brightness above 50% and as I WFH max brightness is not a real factor for me, and maybe quite a few users.

Thanks for the review man. I really had a hard time deciding between the fold 5 and the honor v2. Unfortunately here in Australia, the honor would need to be ordered from china, and I just wasn’t sure if it’s been optimised for local networks. Having the option to use dex and its multitasking features on the fold 5 just won my decision. Was quite disappointed not to see an s-pen silo, but I guess everything has its pros n cons. This will be my first foldable (outside of the flip) so I’m quite excited for its arrival.

Samsung gets a lot of criticism for their Z Folds being narrow and kind of thick, but whenever you use their devices you can tell that they are premium. All of their foldables feel high-end and premium, they don't have a cheap plasticky feel to them like some of the other brands.

Let's get one thing straight: it's just the Pixel fold thar feels plastic. Chinese foldable screens every bit as good as Samsung if not better. Samsung does have the most sturdy feeling hinge however

And don't even get me started on your outstanding grammar, fabulous... and with your accent... SEXY as hell dude ;-) Yes I am a first time foldable User... I have the Pixel Fold but coming from a Galaxy Note... the software is garbaaaaaaaaaaage... LOL... You have convinced me, I am not compromising with this software on the Pixel anymore... Currently have the pixel fold, no heat issues or anything like that but like many other pixels before the reception appears to be wonky at times. With small hands they're both difficult phones in different ways. The Pixel is actually chunky wide, but the z fold is both awkwardly long and narrow. I keep debating ordering the z fold but I find myself using the outer screen for most things and the inner screen is just an added bonus. Not sure I could adapt to the Z fold outer screen even with smaller hands. I'm keeping my S23 Ultra which has the stylus, so is it worth it or just keep my pixel paired with my S23?

I think that we have the same thoughts on these phones. I have or have had the Z Fold 4 and 5 and the Google Pixel Fold. I had for a short time the Z Fold 3. We both agree that the Samsung phones are somewhat technically better, but my choice is the Google Pixel Fold for the superior closed screen size and the wider, shorter open screen size. I am willing to take a slightly less capable phone (Google Pixel Fold) over the somewhat superior Z Fold series for the Pixel's size format.

Form Factor and Better cameras win for me. I hope the Google Pixel Fold 2 fixes its flaws. But Samsung Z Fold 5 has the more annoying flaws like a very narrow front screen and a very narrow screen in Flex mode. Flex mode is determined by the size of the front screen. I Love my Google Pixel Fold and this is coming from a guy who used to own the Samsung Notes and the Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, & Z Fold 4. The Pixel Fold is way better in matters that count and many of the issues were fixed in the Software update on day 2 of ownership.

Consider the choice carefully if your work uses "Android for work" apps. The Samsung keyboard is the default keyboard on Samsung phones. Even though you can change it (for the Gboard?), It does not change the keyboard for "work" apps, making the whole experience very disjointed. Unfortunately, the Samsung keyboard is years behind the Google keyboard in predictive text and mistake correction. I ended up with Soo many mistakes on long emails that it defeats.the.purpose of having a bigger screen for work, if you can't make the experience seamless.

I believe Samsung will update the aspect ratio of their fold phone next year so that it will look more like the Pixel Fold. It feels like this was the last version with this design where they "perfected" it. The change will also feel bigger next year

Hi 2:24 is misleading, Geekbench 6 has higher scores than Geekbench 5, the single core of fold 5 is about 1800, multicore is about 5000 in Geekbench 6. Also 9:56 is not hardware based, it's about the software model

I wonder if they can get thinner than the honor magic V2. For me the inner display should be something you have like the SPens on the note devices in that you dont have to use the feature to enjoy the core experience. I have use cases where a larger display with stylus support would absolutely be handy and having an all in one device that is phone/slash tablet is highly more convinient than having to carry an iphone/ipad combo but the thickness of foldables before made me hold off on considering one. I love the pixel fold but im not a fan of the G2. Pity the huawei mate x3 and the magic v2 have google service issues the competition would push samsung to progress on making the z fold thinner
