Folded Pocket Page Mini Album Tutorial

I live in a part of the world where there is a large Amish community. They don't allow cameras or electricity, or autos or even zippers, but they have the same desire to send cards and collect memories that we Englush do. I invited a mother and her young daughters to learn how to fashion disposeable diapers into enchanting baby gifts. While here the little girls saw my mini albums. Now they are excited to come back to have "a paper play day". I have been going crazy trying to find a design they could learn and execute in a short time with an impressive result. I believe this is it! Perfect for their journaling and artwork and sharing "happy mail" with each other. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial that can reach so many!

I loved the simplicity of this style, and how many photos it held, and wanted to make one for my nephew, who did a lot of travelling. I got a stack of travelling paper, then realized it was single-sided. So what I did for the main pages was to just take a second page and cut it to 12 x 5 inches, scored it at 6" horizontally, and stuck it to the middle of the first sheet on the inside, just before I stuck the flaps down. It turned out very well and cut down on the overall bulk of the page, too. I thought I would share this tip with you, as I have learned so much from your videos! Thank you.

Great stuff!!!! I've found that with the double-sided tape if you pick at the liner in the middle, it usually comes off easily. Thanks for the very clear instructions! Love and Light Vivian

Yes you need to use red double sided or in my case I have used a really strong double sided I get here in the UK, original double sided doesn't do the job. Dawn

miki g ok i got it done in time for Christmas - made it using 4x8 so made the album ( 3pages) from 1 sheet of 12x12 - made a simple cover using the "found cardboard" and the hidden hinge system binding - it had 15 places for "tags" and i used those for gift cards and coupons - it was a HIT! great last minute gift and stocking stuffer thank you so much Dawn and i hope you and yours had a GREAT Christmas! cant wait to see what you come up with next

Oh very easy to follow. I made a few mistakes with measuring and a pocket with a backwards flap (but used it anyway) but I don't think anyone will notice except you and me, lol

Thanks Dawn for sending me the link for this mini. I love it. I have one more question please.....When I score and use the bone folder on my pages for my mini albums they always seem to split along the folds...Have any idea how I can repair or stop this from happening. I am using DCWV and other paper brand stacks with the same problem. And the weight is about the same for most in good quality double sided papers.

Try scoring on both sides with medium presure using the flat bit of your bone folder. Do not dig the sharpe end in thinking you will get a better score line as this is what tears it. Then when you burnish do so using the the flat side of you bone folder and lay it flat. Paper has a memory to be flat we are now gentle changing the memory to give it a fold. I find this works for me and I use Bazzill Basics card stock. Dx
