I had a wonder aunt who was a fantastic seamstress, crocheted, knitter, there wasn’t anything stray lady cousin not make. My freshman year of high school she made my entire wardrobe, because my parents didn’t have a lot of money and she and her husband never had any children. I am lucky at 68 to still have one of these beautiful potholders she made exactly like these, except she made round ones. I treasure that potholder.

Never ever apologize for being you. Remember that there are trolls that just go to videos just to cause drama either with you or with other people defending you. NEVER ENGAGE or feel you need to justify yourself. You are giving them exactly what they set out to do. Im Canadian and I say “eh” all the time and i dont care. I love your videos and they are FREE to watch so you say whatever you want to say.. love how you explain in detail for the beginner like me. Keep doing what you’re doing 💗

Just what I've been looking for. You make it so easily done for us. I am thinking of making mine a bit larger, so will figure out the sizes needed. Was also thinking that I could press all the squares while watching tv. Hate to sit and do nothing. Again, thanks for all of your help. May also see if I can design a rectangular Trivit for casserole type dishes, ie, lasagna, etc.

Thank you for a great and very clear tutorial. I just want to ask if the last corner size should be 3.5", which you note at the beginning or should the corners be cut to 4.5"? I tried the 3.5" and they were very small so I made them 4.5" and it looked closer to what yours did.

Great project. Thanks for showing us and for giving us the measurements we need to accomplish it ourselves!
@sharonwilson8208 Жыл бұрын
To make a square potholder, all you need for the corners are the 4 1/2"-5" squares. Instead of folding them into triangles, fold them into a square by taking one corner, bring it up to the opposite corner. This will give you a triangle. Then take the folded edge of the triangle to the middle, matching your raw edges and the fold in the center, do the same with the other tip and then, like magic, you have a square for the corners. If you have drawn your grid correctly, you should have a perfect square potholder.

Rather than having to measure the scrap square for alll the lines, you could fold the fabric along each of the lines and press a crease on each one, then draw along the crease lines with your pen. This saves a lot of measuring and is quicker. Just a suggestion.

I love your instructions. You cover everything so nicely. I like it that you stress pressing your squares. I’ve watched other demonstrations where they never press anything and it really bothers me. I cut binding according to the instructions on your blog 34 x2 and on the video it says 36x 2 1/2 so which is best?
@FunstuffcraftsLisaWelander2 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that and thanks for letting me know there is a difference. Both will work. The 2 1/2 will give you a little wider width in binding and the 36 will just give you a little extra to work with.

Lisa, don't try to change anything about your lesson. I know a lady on another channel who is trying to stop saying "Um", and now she has replaced it with "so".lol. It is very hard to keep your dialog going while you are filming and that is what causes this repetition of a pause word. Very good instruction in this video. 💛👏
