"In its wildest moments the modular synth becomes unwieldy, tipping from conducting an ensemble into herding a flock of sheep. When we expand past our ability to understand, we give up a bit of control, but gain the freedom of making music that we don't yet know how to make." @ 4:52 This is by far the most beautiful description I have ever heard and I will use this for the rest of my life. You are an inspiration!

I just got some oscilloscope cable adapters for my synth so I can finally put to use this old tektronix oscilloscope I've had lying around. Feels serendipitous! Mults has been very useful for this too. Very deep video too I loved the explanation you gave about the appeal of electronic music and synthesis

Where do we start. The amount of knowledge and perspective dropped here is really inspiring. The scope shows us something that doesn’t exist, because we can only really experience The Present Moment. The amplitude’s activity over time being presented as “shape” has even become the way people talk about synth tones. Sometimes, I wonder about that, how helpful that really is in the long run for understanding synthesis. But visual cues are important, albeit limited, as Walker seems to touch on. Anyways! I’m hyped for whatever modulation discussions you peeps are working on. “How do you organize” is a wonderful question. I look forward to more on this topic. It definitely makes me want to go practice. Thank you for another fine video, Make Noise.

One Quantized S&H used to control the pitch of multiple voices that are singing different timbres or rhythms with when modulated further down the line has been interesting to me lately. And you can even do this with one small oscillator that has multiple waves that come out like the sto. With a very small set up you can have a very big sound! Kind of like that orchestra you were talking about. Great video Thanks for the inspiration!

What about a mult where each copy could be waveshaped, folded, bitcrushed, scaled or treated with combination of all those options?

First of all, I've been shocked about the the things we don't know about when we just mind our own business and patch along with the people behind the brands we love so much. I hope all turns out well in the end - and the company will still be around in 2125. Looking forward to MN's new direction and I have blind faith as well as unconditional support. I've been triggered about this new module, it's probably and hopefully a platform. As for integration of simple sources into complex paths, I couldn't help thinking of a Universal Follower. Not just envelopes, but every possible little piece of CV that can be used elsewhere (transients, gaps, end-of-anything) but also audio to pitch, color and brightness CV when there's a melodic source playing. Maybe do a bit more with the Spectrum. How cool is it to not just resynthesize partial information, but to resynthesize many other properties too. Just thinking out loud.

More complex results doesn't means "it's better"! If a musician (a composer) can't create a good song/track using just simple synthesizers and other instruments then he/she is not a good musician simply :)
