I am so glad you got this synth! Such an amazing video! I did the filter pinging and spent a very long time doing it all while getting lost in the delay and reverb! It certainly takes on a whole other sound when you use the HP filter and mess around with the filter LFO depth. Thank you for another wonderful video sir 😁

Cheers! Pinged filters, especially when you find one that really responds well to it, are a wonderful thing, and yes, often very evocative of those early, experimental days of electronic music.

So far my favorite is making RD-D2/Droid sounds. Crank the resonance on one of the filters, and route the LFO to the cutoff with max LFO depth. Works best with one of the square wave type LFO shapes. Then experiment with the LFO rate and cutoff.
@OscillatorSink5 күн бұрын
@@Kothag the classic bleep-bloops never go out of style! Try using a low-tuned square wave oscillator on the other drone voice rather than the lfo - you'll get some really fun ring-mod-esque tones that way!

@OscillatorSink4 күн бұрын
Thanks! I think I've just bought mine off Amazon - not had a single one fail and for this synth in particular they don't need to be long at all. You didn't say where you were from, which probably changes the answer, but an alternative in the UK would be a dedicated synth shop like Elevator Sound, Signal Sound or Juno.

Have you gotten any interest to make a video about the Sonicware Liven Ambient 0?
@OscillatorSink15 сағат бұрын
I personally have an interest in it, but it's a case of too much cool gear, but not enough money to buy it all (and the 5 or 6 quid I'd make off the video doesn't really cover it). There's so much cool gear I'd like to do videos about if money was infinite!

Thanks for watching! I'd actually suggest taking a look at some basic videos on modular synthesis in general rather than something tailored just to this synth. Getting a grounding in the basic building blocks of subtracting synthesis (this is fundamentally a subtractive synth) and thinking about how to apply them to this synth will probably help you bed in the concepts better. Andrew did a good primer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYjWnYaKidCcfLcsi=0REKLgX3ESpwochY As is this one from Dave: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXO3ZayZodmZeKcsi=SqY826Ii7ojmA_UY

Can you patch an SQ 1 into it and get cv/gate control of the oscillators? Sort of traditionally?
@erlannderrantem69725 күн бұрын
Yep others did videos of that already
@OscillatorSink5 күн бұрын
CV for pitch, filter (which is also v/oct) absolutely - I actually show this in the first patch - I'm even using an SQ-1, although it's off-screen. You don't have a VCA or an envelope so "gate" is less useful, but a great, inexpensive way to "fix" that is to use a little, passive low-pass gate (a 0HP one is most convenient). I'm planning a video where I pair the DS-2 with other stuff, and that'll be one of the pairings.
@DMRobot1014 күн бұрын
@@OscillatorSink I have a Keystep, Beatstep and Werkstatt-01. Would love to see how the DS-2 pairs with these 😃
