Folding Murphy Style bed Part 1 | EP45 | Ford Transit Campervan Build

The long asked question! Where is the bed? In my self build campervan
I didn't personally want a full garage in my van so I decided to build a Murphy style fold down bed. Easy to have half of the bed or the full bed down and leave it down all day or easily hide it away and have the full length of the van.
My name is Alex Frood, I’m a UK based Freelance Expedition Leader and Outdoor instructor. During a Uk Covid-19 Lockdown I am converting my 2018 Ford Transit Mk8 L3H3 into a full-time Camper.

I bought a new factory built van in 2017 with French bed which I thought,at the time was the ideal layout for me,3 years on lockdown 1 arrived and I used the opportunity to get rid of the bed which I'd found uncomfortable and a waste of space,and build a Murphy bed.Managed to get a full sized double width ways across the van.Ultra comfortable and folds away in 2 mins.giving loads of floor space in daytime mode.Your builds looking great,real bespoke job👍👍Paulo

It’s a bit hard to imagine at the moment but you’ll be able to see in the next video, but when the mattress is folded up it leaves plenty of space to stuff the duvet, pillows and so on in the remaining gap.

Maybe a simple hole thew upper cabinets for a pull plug for a more solid locking
