Hi Darryn It's great to see you back. 😊😊.... I hope you've been able to sort out everything in the bindery.. I took up book binding just about a year ago, as a direct result of watching your videos.. I always hoped that you would be able / willing to post new content, and (happily) here we are... Again "welcome back" 👍👍

Welcome Back! I am glad to have your videos back. Your voice and teaching has always been a blessing. In an arena where instruction is rare, I am thankful you are back. I hope the cleanup has all gone as well as it can for you.

So good to have you back! I use a Teflon bone folder when folding my pages. They leave no trace nor shine behind. I hope it helps someone!
@DASBookbinding Жыл бұрын
Yes, a lot of people do prefer to use them. I use the square ended teflon folders when making boxes. I think they are a bit soft when trying to make crisp folds with paper and prefer the real bone folders and just make sure to only make contact over the fold.

So good to see you back again Darryn and hope you and yours are all good. For some reason the world seems a better place with your calm and gentle voice in it again. I always used to use waxed thread when I first started but now I buy it unwaxed and like you will give it a quick run over some beeswax to reduce tangling/knotting.

Like everyone else, I’m so glad that you are back! I enjoyed this video and especially love the little bits of history you slipped in. As for thread, when I tried making a dot journal after watching a few of your videos, I couldn’t find any linen thread similar to what you used without special ordering it. So I ended up using heavy duty buttonhole thread from my sewing kit. It works great and can be found in most hobby/craft/fabric stores. I’ve made all sorts of journals since then. Thanks for the continuing inspiration and instruction.

I always wanted to learn bookbinding. Now that I'm retired I have the time. I checked out a few of your other videos and realized that there is a lot to learn. I'm glad that you have an index where I can find out more about a step I'm not familiar with. Since I know next to nothing about bookbinding, I'll start at the beginning.

Hi Darryn! I guess you get the message that people are glad you being back . Hope you wouldn't get wet feet again. If it wouldn't be on the other side of the world, I'd send you one of my pressing tools I made for my son. As a woodworker I have great fun to make tools for bookbinders.

So happy to see you back ! Folding against the nook to have perfect edge alignment is genius. Folding is slower, but it is good to get this precision when you can't recut the margins. And thanks fot the story of the cased book. I never made the link with the invention of wood pulp paper, and thus the creation of a "new" kind of book.

Woohoo! 🎉Welcome back! So nice to see a new video of you pop up in my notifications. I hope all is well (and dry!) in the bindery. During your absence I saw so many of your videos -and got into a deep rabbit hole on paste papers, especially Herrnhuth papers. (I am still in the hole, looking for further literature!) 😳 Thanks a lot for all the work you do to make these available. Schmedt tools are the best -and also an investment! I am excited to see how this series of videos on rounded and back cased book progresses. I will be here for it! Thanks again.

You made my day with this new video. I missed your teaching a lot and felt sorry for your problems with the shop. I was afraid that was something with your health. Meanwhile I got better on working with leather because I like the binding with that material. I still have a problem with applying gold leaf on leather cover of the book. Most of the videos I found do not explain well the technique, just show how skilled are the bookbinders.

Wonderful to see you back! Your channel is what made me pick up bookbinding properly during covid, after a hiatus of a few years after my first case binding course. Wouldn't dare to call myself an experienced amateur binder by now, but I've certainly tried a bunch of strucutres and techniques I wouldn't if it weren't for you, and I do think I have a much better understanding of what I am doing after watching your videos. Don't think I'd have joined my local amateur binder's club if it weren't for DAS Bookbinding, either. Thank you!
