Folk Song in County Tyrone, 1910

In 1910, Charlotte Milligan Fox visited the Tyrone Gaeltacht. In May of that year, she wrote of her travels and of the singers and Irish language enthusiasts she encountered. This 20 minute film, which uses her own words in the narration, is a reconstruction of her visit.

Thanks for posting and bringing to life this amazing Tyrone Folk song story. James Tracy was the father of Ann and Eamonn, and thus likely uncle to my g grandmother - Alice Tracy. I bet the entire Tracy clan sang together back in the day.

Turlough - CMF wrote of her travels in 'Journal of the Irish Folk Song Society', Volume 8, 1910. It is available in the Central Library, Belfast (second floor). If you have a look at this, you might find the songs you're looking for. If not, the Central Library has other volumes of the Journal. Might be worth having a look at those as well. Hope this helps.
