Wonderful music of the people. Berthold Brecht said that in the peoples culture masterpieces are drawn in the dirt. This is a masterpiece.

It's just wild to hear this song (played better than anyone else), which I always associated with Furry Lewis' "Cassie Jones". I wonder which one came first. ^..^

I was looking for Charlie Poole's version of "Milwaukee Blues" and stumbled upon this contemporary string band who I've never heard of before. Very impressed.

Different interpretations of this old tune, this one more bluegrass. It sure is nice though to hear young people, of any color, playing "roots" music. Maybe the best rendition I've heard!!

If these folks don't rule------and so far they don't appear to-------it's just a crying shame. I can't hear enough of them. I've watched and listened to Milwaukee Blues so often I've nearly worn it out, and that's just for starters. There's more good old down home talent here then you're going to find anywhere elsr if you sesrch KZbin from one end to the other.

Hi Christopher The group is wonderful. I love them all. But the lady is just awesome. She does ANY kind of music and does it supremely. Plus she's very nice to look at.

theres a place where white 'hillbilly ' music and black country blues meet and blend - Doc Boggs, Charlie Poole, Rev Gary Davis and Blind Willie McTell were all there - now these guys too. lovely banjo picking - hard to believe its only 4 strings

@MrJimc210 жыл бұрын
Impressive, yes; bluegrass, not exactly. This is an old-time # recorded by Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers around 1926. Google Poole; his life story is very interesting.
@geraldhynes4269 жыл бұрын
Sorry but this ain't bluegrass. I love bluegrass as much as the next man, but CCD have their own number....well, not THEIR own. Their stuff has roots way, way deep, deeper than bluegrass can ever go. Best to just dig it without trying too much to put it in a category.
@chrisgordon57198 жыл бұрын
Where do you think that "Bluegrass" music came from? Vermont?
@chrisgordon57198 жыл бұрын
The history of the Banjo leads to Africa. I didn't see a lot of Irish Paddy's come from Western Africa as slaves.
@MrJimc28 жыл бұрын
Chris Gordon That's right....let's make a racial issue out of a simple song and style of music. BTW, Kentucky is the Bluegrass State.
