Great video. The postcard at the beginning is just how I remember it as a child on holiday there numerous times in the 1960s. Wonderful. I loved the boating pool in particular. Looking at Folkestone now, much of the Victorian and Edwardian splendour and style has been trashed by subsequent ill-thought planning and development. Sadly, the new sea-front development looks to continue that theme.

I went to boarding school in Folkestone… looking at this video it’s actually made me realise that I miss it…I grew up there and although I’m not from Folkestone it’s probably the closest thing I have to a home town. The postcard of the Sealink ferry brought back all the memories of catching the ferry to go back home for school holidays…

Thank you. this was great as it has brought back so many memories of going to Folkestone on holiday every year in the late 60s and all of the 70s when I was a kid. I remember near the beach with the arches there was a Darlek I used to ride on. It was next to where the sunny sands kiosk is now. there were other amusements just behind the kiosk that used to sell rubber rings, windmills etc. Oh, how I miss the rotunda, fair and the Sunday market next to the rotunda. The caple-le-fern clifftop cafe was my favourite cafe. At the bottom of the old high street were amusements on both sides instead of a cafe and bounce (according to google maps?). the lights along Marine parade was lovely at nighttime. I loved going to the Folkestone theatre at the start of Marine parade but I can remember what it was called? A lot has changed a lot since then!

Love Folkestone, absolute disgrace the sandles property developer has been allowed to building those awful apartments on the beach!

Wonderful presentation, Jeremy. Brings back many memories of the 70s & 80s as I regard Folkestone as my 2nd home. Currently down here at the moment (staying at The Grand Burstin), enjoying the fresh air getting away from London and its frenetic pace.
