There are many roads in Australia that councils have deemed not necessary and allow farmers to use them for their own purposes, usually with an annual rent payable to council.

I have been surprised many times following google maps leading me to private property with a closed gate. The worst is when it's down a valley after a very steep decent that you have to try ride back up.

​@@kingkire1556 I've been led down timber stairs on a walking trail once 😁 On this occasion I'd blame Google over the Garmin, as I just transferred it over from Google.

I’ve been turned away on a route through what turned out to be private property. The guy had signs saying no trespassing, no access etc. I was told next day by a local that it was in fact a right of way and he should be letting people through.

I've always wondered about that. So many roads marked on maps seem to go into properties. Having that info before hand would be convenient.
