@@hunxue7778 I am trying to get as much info on this process as much as possible. You hair looks great here... I must say I just don't like how they expose the already "treated" hair to excess heat. I wonder when they are doing the retouch could they apply the chemical blow dry and straighten (only the new growth), apply the neutralizer, then straighten it all out? I feel that that would be better than exposing the weaker pre-processed hair to more heat.

It's been 4 months since I got my Japanese straight perm. My hair hasn't grown significantly, but it's getting there! About your length is my goal. Once I hit six months I need to decide if it's time for a touch-up! Anyway, great video as always!

Is it easy to find a Japanese salon that can do it? I found one and they do those treatments But I'm scared they won't be able to handle my hair texture
@KeyJKandy
@KeyJKandy 3 жыл бұрын
@@happyhappy685 It depends on where you are. I was lucky in finding a salon near me through a different KZbinr. The salon is actually Korean, but they do the Japanese treatment there. I'm pretty sure I have 4C hair, but it was dyed before I got my treatment done so my stylist used a less harsh version of the treatment. I have had no issues and my stylist was able to treat my hair. He had a lot of experience with all hair types.

I really appreciate you documenting your journey. Can hardly find anyone that uses this type of chemical whether for straight hair or curly (perms I mean). Do you know what brand straightener your salon uses? And at what strength? Did you all have a discussion about that?
@hunxue7778
@hunxue7778 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad they're useful to someone haha :) Yes! They use the Milbon Liscio brand. I don't know what strength they use, I assume is a strong one since my hair was completely virgin and type 4. Our discussion was mostly focused on if they've done afro-textured hair before and whether or not I've had any other process in my hair to ensure I wouldn't get any damage since you've got to be really careful if you have dye or anything in it.
@sweetdreamer2009
@sweetdreamer2009 5 жыл бұрын
@@hunxue7778 oh awesome. I always wonder about them defaulting to the strong brands for our hair types because my hair is def 4bc but the strands are fine and fragile. I'm sticking it out natural for a while yet but I love info gathering for the future.
@hunxue7778
@hunxue7778 5 жыл бұрын
@@sweetdreamer2009 I think they'll feel through your hair before deciding on the strength! Or at least I hope so haha At this salon they felt my hair and detangled it before mixing and bringing out the solution, so maybe that was the "evaluation" part?

Did they wash your hair and then blow dry it before they applied the first straightening cream? Or did they apply it to dirty hair? Im planning on doing this process myself so im trying to make sure that I get all the steps right.

How much time does it take for the hair to get back a little volume? Also I heard that when the hair gets wet it gives off a strong chemical odor, is that true? Im really considering this or locs for my natural hair. Thanks!
@hunxue7778
@hunxue7778 5 жыл бұрын
After about a month my hair isn't so flat, since I'll have a smidge of new growth. Really?! I haven't heard that. My hair doesn't give off a chemical odor at all, not even after the first wash. Maybe that's with Brazilian keratins, I think I heard that about them? But good luck on whatever you choose! I love locs on women by the way, beautiful~

Are you able to apply heat to your hair often? Do you maybe blow dry your hair every time you wash it? Do you straighten your hair for extra straightness once in a while
@hunxue7778
@hunxue7778 4 жыл бұрын
I definitely wouldn't apply heat your hair often, that hair stylists told me that's a big reason why some people lose their hair, they continue to use heat on the JSP part of their hair when you should only be using it on your roots when they're growing out. But you can blow dry your hair! I don't do it every time, I do it maybe once or twice a month if I need my hair to dry quickly and I use low heat :) And no I don't straight my hair at all (only the grown out roots) because it stays super straight!
