As you have seen this morning, we were welcomed by the sight of the elephants -- Lame, Ramodiba and Mopani -- in their enclosure at the Johannesburg Zoo's bandstand area.
Just to tell you more about the zoo, did you know that it first started 120 years ago with a collection of only 11 animals?
Today, the zoo boasts more than 282 species and 2 284 animals in its collection, including the Big Five.
The average visitor number is 500 000 per year.
In the previous financial year, the zoo welcomed over 600-thousand visitors who came to celebrate the venue's 120th anniversary.
Although the Joburg Zoo has had an incredible journey, there have been concerns about the role and relevance of zoos in today's world. This morning, we will take a closer look at this family-friendly, 365-day outdoor award-winning destination that is a critical player in global conservation efforts and find out if it is "summer ready" to host thousands of visitors as we follow the sun.
For now, its back to the studio.
