The follow through is effectively how you end your golf swing. While it happens well after you hit your golf shots a good follow through position is indicative of a good swing leading up to the impact with the ball. Conversely, mistakes in your follow through might give clues as to errors made earlier in your golf swing, which can result in poor golf shots.
In this video you will learn to hold your follow through while the ball is in the air. And you will learn the right position to stand during the follow through. Follow these golf tips for a better follow through and ultimately for better golf shots.
When you reach the end of your swing, hold your finish so that:
- Your chest is facing the target
- Your weight is on your front foot, leaving only your toes on the ground with your right foot
- Your club is held up high, with the club shaft at the back of your head
Be careful of these follow through errors:
- If you are unable to hold your position after you hit your golf shots you are likely not maintaining great balance in your golf swing. Maybe you are standing too much on your toes, which can lead to shanks.
- If you are falling behind the ball after you hit it then maybe you are hitting fat or thin shots. And that might be caused by a reverse pivot swing error.
- If you are falling behind you after you hit it might be because you are leaning on your heels too much, which could produce toed golf shots that don’t go very far.
