Came here from your rant video. Apparently YT algorithm picked it up and pushed it to the world, and now you 're getting the influencer experience :) My 2 cents: As many people have pointed out, you keep doing what you like, try to keep it honest, and don't mind the comments. YT (the internet, in general) provides a greatly varied audience and you wont be able to fulfill everyone's wishes. Doing what you like shows and is appreciated by people looking for information. There will be people that will try to demean you, that's the nature of the media, ignore it :) As a response to your rant video: The people selling things are running a business, I do expect them to try to sell me things. That doesn't make their videos invalid, it just has to go through a filter. I've picked up great techniques and information from corporate videos, irrelevant to the product being sold. Also, when I try to find solutions to an issue, I try to gauge the value of a solution to me. If its a one time use thing, I usually pick up the product that I think will work, and I'm done. If it's something I use often enough I will research it, its alternatives, if I can do it myself and how hard that will be, and so on. I see it as a balancing act of time, money, effort. Btw loved your ocean wave table thing, will try to recreate it on a miniature scale :)

Thank you so much for the support! I agree with you, I dont find sponsors bad or sponsored products bad. We all have to pay our bills somehow. What I havr an issue is the way some peeps push it. Slyly underhanded comments on other brands, talking shit about other methods, saying that that is the only true way of doing something, or by using that item only be it mold, release, epoxy, pigment, wood, whatever. Or being secretly sponsored and not disclosed. I can see through it, Im well aware of the methods and I felt sorry for the noobs who been lead on buying into the stuff... anyhow all im saying is Im 100% with you on this and I will try to set a good example!

I am in the USA. To dome the backs of my jewelry, I found a ‘wet n wild’ nail polish, 99 cents instead of Let’s Resin UV which is very costly

I have used this for UV resin. I mostly use it to make pieces shinier vs doming. I'd imagine it will dome but it doesn't seem as thick as the JDiction UV which seems like it's close to the Let's Resin one.

@@RebelandRomanceOfficial I just use the regular polish. It has a surface tension that works. But works best if dabbed on with a tool vs brush or put in squeezy bottle taped up so light doesn't get thru.

Agree. Never let someone else destroy your light. The sun never competes with the moon. They just work together. It's sad that people don't realise they all had to start somewhere. Don’t listen to negative nancys (thats what I call them) lol. I love your videos, you are honest and you speak the truth. It’s refreshing to listen and watch someone who isn’t pushing the stuff they use and try and make you go and get the same. I think it’s awesome that you go into the different items we can use that are much cheaper. It’s like everything else, you mention weddings and the costs go sky high. It’s the same with any other arts and crafts too. I for one can’t afford all the expensive stuff they want us to use and it’s great to learn which cheap stuff we can use as an alternative. Im really looking forward to many more of your videos. I’d eventually love to try a table like what you made it was awesome. Keep being you and doing your videos your way not everyone else’s way. Have a great week. Thanks for your videos.

I love this honesty and the call out in the first video to the BS that we are told to buy when beginning. I was told to "Have To Buy mold release" . I had a reaction to mold release immediately. I wasn't warned that this was a possibility and was very sick from it. You are informing us of alternatives like car spray😮. You are awesome! Don't let the other people talk you down. There will always be brand whores that will listen to what they should buy as opposed to what is a more affordable alternative.

Your rant video was a suggestion on my feed because it’s one of my hobbies. I started working with resin epoxy to learn how to make my own embellishments for furniture and how to make a mold for resin to replace a missing piece of molding or trim. It’s a less expensive alternative than buying the premade embellishments and there is usually not much available pre made for the aesthetic that I like. And I learned quickly that just because it costs more doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a better product, and often they are inferior or just doesn’t work. And the resin’s I have tried I just don’t perceive much of a difference between brands or cost ( except for the obvious such as cure time , working time, and doing deep pours vs shallower pours. And the pieces I make I usually paint them after they’ve cured because of what they’re for. One issue I did have and I found an answer for was sometimes when I was attempting to make a silicone mold for something that I was trying to reproduce I would occasionally end up with a mold that was only partially set up or didn’t set at all ( and a lot of times this happened with the PLA 3-d printed items because there is something in the plastic that the silicone reacts to ) so i experimented and have found a solution to the cure inhibition problem because I need to mold that piece because it’s cheaper to make my own than to purchase multiple pre made pieces. Spray the pla piece with an acrylic gloss clear coat and you create a barrier between the plastic and the liquid silicone. I sprayed several light coats of the clear coat and waited the cure time on the label and I was able to make a mold without any problem with cure inhibition. The clear coat use most often is Aileen’s or Krylon because they’re cheap and readily available. I really appreciate the honestly and your genuine passion for your art. It is refreshing to see. Thank you! I’ll be looking for other videos from you. 🖤

Just keep doing your own thing, but perhaps, just explain why you are keeping yourself safe as you do so. That way, you won't be tempted to risk your own safety and viewers can learn what is safe practice and what the dangers would be of not adhering to recommendations. For years I have wanted to have a go at this, and the cost has put me off. I subbed to keep a track of your channel for future reference for the day I can look into setting up a moulding area at home. The alternatives you proposed resonated with me, since for my art, I often think outside the generally accepted materials and methods. No one else can be you. You seem to be doing a fine job of it (being you) for now!!

When you have viewers who do multiple or different crafts, you open yourself up to new ideas. For example, I love to bake and have, from time to time done elaborate cake icing and air brushed it. Then, when doing paper craft, I thought, why not use food colouring airbrushed on paper - and it works really well and it is easy to clean the airbrush after too :) Embroidery backing paper can be coloured and put into all sorts of things like making paper flowers...or making background paper for cutting. There are so many cross overs. Enjoy whatever you do.

Too many comments to see if anyone brought THIS up but.......dried floral and greenery. Got carrots? Trim off those tops, press them in a book or use a flower press and viola, you'll have mini "fern" fronds! Weeds are your friends. Queen Anne's lace (aka wild carrot....you can use the dried pressed leaves too) cut and put in empty glass jars from pasta sauce etc, the water colored with food coloring, when it gets to the shade you like, dump the water, let the flower heads dry out and it will give you tiny colored clusters of petals to embed in resin. Tinsel, aquarium gravel, fabric scraps.

Hello, I came across both your videos and love both of them. Here's what people need to understand, everyone lives all around the world, and everyone has a difference in how they do their type of resin molds. People need to understand that when people do resin, they don't take into account where they live and the condition of the weather and altitude of where they live when they start working with resin. Everyone has gone through failures and has come out better by learning from those failures. It does not hurt to learn from someone who has tried other methods in resin as there's no harm in trying as hell you might end up liking the end result. So everyone going to learn from everyone in the resin community, I would hate for someone to quit just because of commitment, and YT decided its not best for them. All videos, so be educated and learning experiences, and we should be grateful for everyone who does videos as we can learn and get great information from them. So, in closing , I hope you continue with your videos as I find them very informative and important in my journey into resin. Thank you, and have a wonderful day .

I really enjoyed watching your video and I wanted to let you know how inspiring it was! I have been buying supplies for my crafting business too, and like you, I am on a budget but want to create quality products without breaking the bank. I've been watching videos about resin crafting and silicone mold making for over 4 years now. I have a collection of supplies that I've gathered over time, including all the essentials like resin, molds, silicone, pigments, and more. I have noticed that many creators on KZbin are constantly promoting new products and it can be overwhelming at times. While I appreciate their advice and creative ideas, I sometimes feel pressured to buy things I may not necessarily need. It's great to see creators growing their businesses and getting sponsorships, but I don't agree with bad-mouthing products just because they're not from a certain brand or company. I recently discovered Temu and found their molds to be just as good as others I've tried. I don't understand the negativity towards their products, especially when they work just as well. I also don't think it's fair to criticize products just because they are made in China - quality can come from anywhere. I understand the importance of supporting local businesses and economy, but I also believe in being honest about product quality. As someone with a limited budget, I appreciate when I can find affordable options that don't compromise on quality. It's frustrating to see creators pushing expensive products without considering the impact on their audience. The resin mold controversy is something that bothers me too. The huge price difference between products from different companies is concerning, and I wish creators would focus more on creating content rather than promoting their own products excessively. I believe in creators growing their businesses, but not at the expense of honesty and integrity. I have accumulated a lot of molds and supplies over the years, and I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have. It's easy to fall for the hype and end up with more than you need. It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone in feeling this way, and I appreciate creators like you who are honest and genuine in their content. Thank you for speaking up about these issues - it's important to have open and honest discussions in the crafting community.

AND this is why we are all flocking to you. :) As of right now 869 subscribers!! Congrats! WHOA... hold on, I have gone and watched some of your other videos and I think you have more to give than arranged videos instead of your heart felt minds. Yes I am commenting whilst watching. For future comments (you know next week when you get up to 2000 subs) that's why the youtubers use patreon LOL shouldn't rant... hmmm I have some choice words for them. Not slagging off other youtubers is a good thing, but what they are missing is that 99% of them are in usa not europe and the price difference is horrendous .. The people who said those aweful things are doing it to destroy what you are trying to build. Don't let them get you down.

We can all learn from each other, mistakes and all. It is incumbent on ourselves to research and learn how to use any material safely. I do have a question for you. I have been working on a fairly large mosaic 3ft X 3ft for over 3 years. My original plan was to hang it on an outside wall but I am afraid it will not hold up to the weather elements for very long. I live in Arizona and while it doesn’t rain that much, it is HOT. My underlayment is solid cement board meant for use in areas exposed to wet/damp environments but still I don’t trust it. With the cement, adhesive, glass and ceramic tiles, grout, sealer, caulk, it is HEAVY. So I am considering making it into a table. I have started to explore whether Epoxy Resin would be a good solution to encase the whole shebang. Being that there are multiple heights of glass and ceramic tiles, I would need to build a mold to place around the entire piece (I want to make it round so need a couple inches out from each of the 4 corners making the diameter of the circle 50”-so quite big) I will need to make the mold 4-5” deep to cover the highest point of the design. Deep pour Epoxy? I know I need to seal the mold to prevent the epoxy from leaking out, do I pour all at once to the needed depth or do I need to do it in stages? I have about $300 invested in the project to this point, and 3 years of my time. I don’t want to destroy it. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated!

concrete, glass and glue should be okay in the elements. however, silicone and epoxy cant handle uv too well. and in high heat epoxy tends to become malleable and soft (hence its not even dishwasher safe. epoxy yellows over time and crumbles like all other plastics in the sun. i guess if you keep it the shade it would be good but the heat is a killer, i recommend you do a lot of research on heat and uv resistant materials. cos boats are made of fiberglass and they use polyurethane to bond it. that might work. but im just guessing here. you should really look into boat stuff, that might be a way.

I would be more worried about the weight and having it properly anchored. As long as it is structurally sound I would think a good properly applies coat of turtle wax would protect it from the elements. (I do stained glass.)

I've watched many YT channels on epoxy resin projects trying to get a grasp on whether it's something I want to pursue, and your previous rant video popped up (awesome video, BTW). Most of the so called "beginner videos" are ridiculous for a beginner. They often use expensive, high end tools and machinery that are way beyond a beginner's means. Not to say one can't learn something from them, but they hardly give a true beginner a sense of how to actually get started with a small space and reasonably priced tools. I didn't subscribe to a single one of those YT channels, but this gem right here has earned my subscription. Keep true to yourself, and you will never be without success. There are more people in this world that you resonate with than you realize - the comments speak for themselves. They say if you're "one in a million" in China, then there's 1,412 people exactly like you, and that's just one country. So, keep on doing exactly what you're doing. Like other's have already said, you and your channel are a breath of fresh air - a light in the dismal gloom. Integrity goes a long way and you exude integrity. Oh, and don't try to please everyone, it's impossible. You'll likely end up pleasing nobody including yourself. Lastly, telling the ass-wipes of the world to "piss up a rope" is the way to go as one commenter mentioned, although I prefer "piss on spark-plug". Now you have two options. LOL!

So many great comments like someone had said here I am from the USA saw your video it was pushed through the algorithm. I haven’t watched anything yet but I do hear so many KZbinrs being attacked for nonsense. I watch the process I don’t follow everything everyone does I am me you are you & using one’s own discernment is basic common sense. What I took from the rant is the different inks you used. I’m still learning about epoxy cause I sell at markets. Also I enjoy watching all different makers across the world. I’ve learned so much from others like yourself outside of America. I watched your rant video and agree with you completely. Sell, sell, sell… a lot say they love to teach but then when they get a good following they just try to make their followers buy things that companies gave them. So many people jump into resin without doing their research and wonder why some things happened after the fact. They don’t realize what chemicals can do if used in the wrong setting or no PPE. “Because their favourite KZbinr doesn’t use PPE and they’re fine” It baffles my mind when KZbinrs say “Do as I say, not as I do”. These chemicals are dangerous when not used as they should. It specifically says to wear PPE on the labels. Also, Fido or fluffy is sitting in the background breathing in these chemicals because they’re loyal and want to be with their human. Sorry for my mini rant 😂 Hello from Canada New sub 😊 ❤️

100% with you. I think we should always tell people that these things are dangerous and caution must be first. PPE is a must. But in the end, everybody is responsible for their own safety too. i always say do as i say not as I do because i'm not a professional and I do whatever I want. But I make sure I let peeps know that this is dangerous. its like smoking, booze and harder stuff. everyone knows how much they care for their own health in my opinion. I appreciate your take and agree wholeheartedly regarding the individuals out there that read to page 27 in a Dummies book and then pose as some font of knowledge and wisdom. It seems there are a ton of people out there suffering from Dunning Krueger Syndrome. However, as someone who has a few years on you, I believe that this is a symptom of there being a lack of gatekeepers and obstacles to entry. If you stepped into a time machine and went back 30 or 40 years, there was no Print-On-Demand, no internet, no way to open an online store, no tutorials, no self-publishing, etc. This is also true of access to materials and tools. Yes, many tools designed for crafts are a ripoff and if you buy skewers (for example) at a grocery store, a pack of 100 is $2 or less, while the same skewers at a crafts store would probably be $10. As a percentage of average income, professional grade tools are less than they were 30 years ago and it would appear that there is little to any obstacles that keep a person from trying to make a buck doing almost anything.

Begin where you are, and start with what you have. These days businesses are selling promises of easy success for a price with the value-added prospect of "this product is what you need to succeed." This is not just a problem for creators, but for everyone. We have companies screaming at us 24/7 that we need this or that to not only achieve success, personal satisfaction, and happiness, but to even matter to others. "Buy new, buy big, and buy often," is the new mantra of the masses. This is sad. Experimenting, adapting, and repurposing is what gives art (and life) meaning to the artist and the those who appreciate authentic art as opposed to soulless production.

There are tricks/hacks to thicken 2 part or uv epoxies. Adding clear kids school glue in very tiny amounts will cause it become thick enough to use it as a film epoxy say on wire hoops or dragonfly wings etc. Forming uv epoxy in water, while pouring uv into and hitting it with a uv flashlight as you pour it to get 3D free form pcs. Adding small amounts of Fumed Silica filler will thicken epoxy. Adding cornstarch to 2 part epoxy, both A and B parts separately to make epoxy putty when combined/mixed together. I'm finding new ideas here on YT all the time and from all corners of the world. Love it.

Not epoxy, but for woodworking (since I know you do that too). For tinting light wood to a darker but still natural tint (for example steamed beech wood to something darker): Brew some really strong coffee (espresso-strong is about right), and rub it into the wood. The first time is obviously most effective, but you can still get it slightly darker by doing this a few times. After that, apply oil or wax or watever as usual. No need to buy 10 different tints of oil or wax to get to what you want, with coffee, you can easily reduce that to 2 or 3.

The people who told you to shut up, go away etc are Trolls. They do it to all KZbinrs that are successful. Do not answer them, don’t give them any more thought or talk about them. Because they like that. They want attention. If you can just ignore them for a while they will move on and bother someone else. I’m sorry they’ve tried to silence you. Your message is important. You matter, you’re helping so many of us who also want to learn and share. To be a friendly honest global community. Now I want to share but fear this is a long comment. 😁. I’m an American woman of baby boomer age. I wanted to mention that here in America many women know about the “pink tax” and many don’t know yet. The Pink Tax is this - things that are marketed to women or stores that have mostly female clients charge more for their products than the same item in a store where men make up most of the customers. So if you can buy it at the Hardware store it’s going to be cheaper than at the craft store. The only exception I’ve ever seen in that scenario was acrylic craft paint but I think that’s because the hardware store doesn’t buy enough to get the huge discount a Michael’s craft store would receive. But Plaster of Paris, glues, and more are less just like the tray you found at a garden center. The other tray molds were possibly priced to the traditional hostess and therefore a woman. You can find Pink Tax explanations much better than mine on the web - like here www.investopedia.com/pink-tax-5095458 Thank you for your rants and your honest thoughts on things. You’re right if people don’t like it they should just move on. I’m sorry they won’t always do that. ☮️

I think what you are offering is most definitely worth pursuing. Thank you!! A central point where members of this community can meet and share information is both valid and necessary. It is very generous of you to offer to take this on. All I would say is, try not to get too bogged down by the administration of this project. Try to keep in mind that you are primarily a maker too, and you need to allow time to continue with your own projects! Try to draw on resources that are already in place, and signpost people to those resources. In the comments to last week's video I suggested Peter Brown's channel. His video series on using household items to dye epoxy is excellent and he has already made lots of mistakes and found some of the best things. (I am NOT affiliated with that channel in any way!!) That is an existing resource that you could use. In a lot of cases you don't need to reinvent the wheel!! Once again, thank you for offering to coordinate this project, but don't let your own work suffer! Cheers!
