I am looking forward to As beautiful as you. I read the novel and it's different from Best choice ever. It focused more on business and romance and Best choice ever focus on family. There will be no annoying mother.

I'm looking forward to As Beautiful As you compared to the drama Best Choice. Though both dramas have a strong main leads, I prefer the story line of As Beautiful As You. It:"s a bit tiring to watch Historical or Costume dramas lately.

Kind of interested to see how Tong Song Yun and Xu Kai play off each other in As Beautiful As You. I normally prefer her characters more than those played by Yang Mi. (Don't hate me, folks...it's just a personal preference.) TSY's character looks interesting on paper, so I may check out the drama to see how it works. I didn't watch Best Choice Ever so I won't know if it's a recycled plot.

A live action of the popular donghua Link Click was also released! Tbh I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I plan to because I surprisingly really liked the first episode and the production. The plot has differences, like important differences, but it doesn't bother me since the original animation is too good and is still ongoing, so this way nothing takes away its protagonism. Also, this adaptation feels like an alternate universe, which doesn't feel so illogical since it's a time travel show where parallel timelines are canon. Still not sure what I think of the actor who plays the role of Lu Guang, but I'll hold off on my opinions until I watch all the episodes. For now I'll just say I really appreciate how well they recreated the 'Time Photo Studio'. It's magical to see it in real life because it's literally the same house. I even wonder if it's a house that already existed before the donghua.

ZYM was also tapped to direct the League of Legends tv show. Tbh I really wonder about that choice, too, and for the same reasons you mentioned-I don’t see him having some kind of rich knowledge of that world.

Dong Ji Dao tells the story of the Lisbon Maru torpedoed by the USS Grouper on 1 Oct 1942 6 miles from the Sing Pang Islands in the Chusan (now Zhousan) Archipelago off the coast of Chekiang Province (south of Shanghai). It was carrying 1,816 British POWs, 773 Japanese troops and 25 guards for the POWs. The Chinese villagers of the islands when they heard from Lt Howell who had picked up by a fishing boat and landed at the largest island that the men in the water were British, not Japanese, the Chinese set off in junks and boats to save some 200 survivors. All were rounded up save three who were hid by the villager and spirited to Chungking. Those with others picked up by the Japanese totaled 973 survivors. After the War survivors collected money to give to the Sing Pang Islanders as a token of gratitude. In February 1949 the Governor of Hong Kong presented to Mr WooTung-ling, the village representative who had hidden the three escapees, and other islanders a motor fishing launch and some monetary awards.

I've got impression you are overly prejudiced towards Zhang Yimou. There's no doubt he is the best Chinese director the world have seen till now, the best expert of photography, pacing and even scripwriting, with particular/individual taste for neorealism style which can fit any genre. Why would such a great director "give space" to younger (and less competent) directors? After your recomendation, I've checked both Chinese and Netflix dramas, finding boring both of them (netflix's is unwatchable, you were right about it, but the C-version is not thrilling either). I'm looking forward to see what a great director, such as ZYM, can make out of it in a shorter, movie, version. The art is not a matter of genre, it's the matter of taste for the arts, who is good in this skill can make art out of anything.

My reaction to Zhang Yimou directing 3 Body is exactly the same when he was also announced as the director for Tencent's League of Legends drama. It's just not his genre...like, Under The light and Cliff Walkers, these are just not his genre. lol The Hong Lou Meng movie would've made more sense for him. But with The Great Wall as an example, I guess he has lost his charm with period epics as well.

2 and a half episodes in into Follow Your Heart, and it's disappointing. Both the script and directing. *Sigh* I had hopes but alas. 🤷🙈 Will force myself to watch for a bit longer to see if it improves cause I really like LY. Thanks for the movie updates, some of them sound really interesting.

I dropped Follow Your Heart after ep 2, though the premise of female character was slightly interesting, maybe its the script but it just does not have an overall interesting or exciting story. That liu tao and liu yuning drama, was the first drama review which you said that you liked but i found bad, the plot progression and the male character was so annoying and off putting, i had to drop it I feel excited for the Turquoise fantasy contemporary drama after seeing some of the images, this could be interesting. Same i am getting good feeling about ww2 movie - i trust Yilong I am waiting for She's Got No Name- for Ziyi's performance and the cinematography.

He chose the scripts himself, and just cause u don't like it doesn't mean it's bad since I enjoy most of his drama. As beautiful as u will be another drama of xukai I'm looking forward to with his pairing with tan songyun, their chemistry looks really good from the trailer ❤❤❤❤
