Let's do things a bit differently tonight, no game, just talk. One of my viewers tells me that he tends to "brain freeze" when a fight starts, thus losing his ability to micro. Let's address this issue by discussing ways to better prepare an encounter and crush your opponents!

You didn't have a game-plan about Paint erasing all your work Grubby! You need a game-plan per-OS in case you use any one of them, game-plan x4 (Windows, MacOS, Ubuntu, Fedora). Think about the next time and draw up a priority list: 1.) Save Often 2.) Use an online scratchpad for instant saves

Never heard it put this way before. I practiced micro challenges and micro battles when playing sc2. But it makes sense that you need a good understanding of what to do and have a subconscious prio list. Thanks Grubby. Not playing but find this interesting! ❤️

Playing this game since 2016 and for me by far the biggest struggle in wc3 is when somebody plays a non-meta strategy. In these games it's so frustrating when I see a replay where my opponent with 80 apm wins vs me while I had 250 apm (it's not useless clicks, I swear :D). The most important thing is knowing how to counter strategies in my opinion, without this micro is useless. Always fascinates how pros know a counter to every possible strat.

i play non meta strategy with 80 apm, and that post offend me
@anthonypeluso37752 жыл бұрын
This post is dangerous meta is only defined by something being the most effective strat available. Its not cheese if it works. That's like playing orc into human and calling picking paladin a cheese. Rather then accepting it was powerful because you over focus a single unit or make other mistakes people will say it's cheese so they can reason with losing to such strat. Apm hardly matters. As long as you can continue to build and produce while fighting etc your gonna be fine. Outside that apm just means unit movement. Have you ever considered you possibly over move your unit group. Such as if a headhunter is being focused it's always better to move just that unit then the whole group. Moving the entire group is a DPS loss that quickly can snowball a fight. If a rag tower push destroyed you it's not cheese rather just not understanding the proper responses. If your at 250 apm compared to a 80 apm player either your doing something wrong or making worse choices.

This is working and not gaming for me. This is the reason why i'm watching WC3 and not playing it myself. After all those years it's absolutley fascinating to see what players can perform with those little figures. So, please, keep on playing Sire. ;-)

Fantastic Video. I think everyone freezes in fights if they don't have a plan and is just reacting, there are too many things going on, and we aren't even playing starcraft. But having a strategy a battle plan going into fights is very important. so you don't hesitate and waste time in decision making. you have a list of prioritized triggers and actions, and basically execute like a machine to your best ability.

would love to save/load but AI sucks. it'd be great to have a custom map like CS Demolition mode where two players have 'equivalent' random armies and fight over and over

A fun custom game called Micro Arena lets you create small armies of equal supply and fight against each other. It's a great way to explore certain unit combinations and help with micro

hi, is there a video telling how you distributed the buttons to control the troops?
@Tondadrd4 жыл бұрын
To make a control group, press ctrl+1, or ctrl+2 and so on. To select it press 1, or 2 and so on. Grubby has the control groups visualised just above the info bar in his games (some kind of extension). This is for audience to see what control groups is he using. Did I answer your question?

It's the same thing for all areas of training. Once you go through to be extreamly good at one thing, and then if you're gonna learn another thing you be unstoppable because you know mind stuffs that others simply don't know.

As a new player, i disagree wth this prep stuff. What you really should be focusing on is just using everything you have and it doesnt really matter in which order. Generally i feel like the best advice in any rts for the new player is just to DO stuff, never stand still, always creep/macro etc and i think it applies to fights too. After a few games you will start to intuitively understand what to prioretize. Generally, Heroes come first, then spellcasting with units and saving vulnerable units. If you are new, you already have trouble pressing buttons fast enough, and overthinking an encounter (even prior to the actual game) would only slow you down even more. You just need to press every button at your disposal and dont hyperfocus on one thing. After the fight/game you can analyze what you did wrong and come up with a solution. After a certain amount of taking a note at each mistake, it would pop up in your head during the game and you'll have an opportunity to avoid it. Basically, what im saying is prioretize improving playing fast vs playing smart. Ofc, Grubby's advice is very good for more advanced players, who already have enough muscle memory to act fast.
@fatimaWr2 Жыл бұрын
Haha. That's why the pros improvement curve sky rockets through time and yours nearly flat. And you come back thinking they're so talented and you're just mediocore and let me just play it for fun.
