You know, once you finish this series, you could do a series on repairing and adjusting and fixing clothing. Using all the clothes you have that you just want to make those little adjustments to. I feel like that could be very informative and helpful, and would help you get a lot of costumes you have mixed feelings about fixed up.

Love your videos! You are so creative and aren't afraid to tackle anything. One thought I had was that it might be fun for you to interview someone from that era about how they actually sewed these items. There is a ton of information to be had from older generations that is being lost because we sometimes overlook our elderly population. I bet there are some pretty good seamstresses in your local community that would be thrilled to talk to you about how things were really done "back in the day". Keep up the great work you do! I learn things from you all the time and I'm sure others do too!

I love how this dress turned out, and I think it does suit your figure. It's so elegant, and the fabric choice was perfect. I enjoy your videos for many reasons. Firstly, I like to sew but am pretty rubbish, I've never tackled clothes but I would love to. Watching you tackle the trickiest of patterns gives me inspiration. The other thing is your honesty. You will happily say 'I did this, but it didn't work out' and explain why and how you felt it could have been better. That's just so good to hear. When sewing we all make mistakes or have to unpick stitches or whatever, to see someone as good as you make what you consider errors and to talk about them is refreshing. So thank you! :O)

I love these videos! I wish you did a series called "Stuck in the 30's and 40's!" I wear these kinds of clothes all the time and don't need a reason to other than I am a woman. I feel these kinds of styles inspire trust from other women and respect from men. Your videos just keep getting better and better. I wanted to add that your 'mistakes' have helped me to just sew, and not worry about it. I can see that you just learn by actually doing it. I think, "That sweetheart Angela would just tear it out and do it again, or next time do it better. So I will do the same." Thank you for this little empire you are creating and we all get to be a part of it! Yay!

Those inserted gathers instructions were intense, but I love the result. To help get all the warp out of the hem in the future, you can attach some light weights (like binder clips) to the hem while it hangs and that way you'll have less of a chance of it warping after you hem it. (I just said warp and hem a lot in that sentence). O.O Also, allow a couple of days for the fabric to settle. Overall, I think the dress is cute, but I do see why you want to fix the issues with it. I think you should take the time to fix it and be happy with the finished product - especially since I think you could add it to your current wardrobe. Well done Angela!

I've been told to hang the fabric wet and that should put enough weight into it to make sure it's warped as far as it will. I don't know if that's what she did or not but I thought I'd mention it

I was just wondering, I know cosplay isn't really your thing but have you thought about making Mary Poppins' white dress from when they're in the chalk drawing? Or Truly Scrumptious's getup? They're so pretty! You make more historically accurate versions perhaps?

I love this series, and I love how you seem to have gotten more comfortable talking to the camera about what you're doing. Also! It's so cool that you talked about what you wore under the dress, one of the major things I find frustrating with sewing blogs and even magazines is that they never talk about proper foundation garments for a piece, and I really wish they would.

Heavens, what a complicated pattern! Well done for ploughing through it. The fabric is gorgeous and the colour looks wonderful on you. Love the drape. Love the sleeves. I think the dress would look more flattering with a self-fabric belt or no belt at all but it still looks lovely on you. The speeded-up film gives the impression you made this in an afternoon but, as a dressmaker myself, I know this must have been a big project that took several days, perhaps even a couple of weeks, to complete, which is a lot of dedication. And I didn't know you could buy hook-and-eye tape. I shall get some!

I love that dress AND I love it on you. I disagree with you - it's very flattering to your figure. It looks great now but if it will make you actually wear it more, you should redo the neckline, belt, and hem. It'd be an absolute shame for that to sit in the closet unworn.

I think it's very flattering, the cape and all the other top details add some balance to your figure, it suits you well! I have a similar shape and I like designs like that, they give me the shoulders I don't necessarily have! If I were to change anything, I'd change the white trim and redo the hem, just like you said. good job Angela!

Awwwhh, that scene were you put on the dress was so darling....like a glimpse into the past! It’s a pretty dress, too...I think if you shortened it to below knee length it would work perfectly well for your figure. And I love the flutter sleeves! I work out a lot and they are indeed very flattering on a more athletic figure. I mostly use flutter or batwing sleeves now, they give me a softer, more feminine look.

TFS! Lovely style and fabric. Maybe a petersham ribbon would be flexible enough to be shaped to the neckline curve. A bias cut crepe or challis could be used too. I like using a narrow stable ribbon or tape to reinforce the bodice/waist seam a delicate fabric.

I think the dress is very flattering. I’m not familiar with the construction of previous decades but I want to learn. I’m sure there are many things I could use in today’s clothing. I’ve always loved the Edwardian period clothing. I have a turquoise hat the is made of velvet and wire and it is like leaf shapes. You tried one on like it in one of your shopping trips. I love it but haven’t worn it. It also has netting on it. I have several old hats. I would love to send you some pics. I do wear some of them but so many are too small. I must have a big head LOL. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us.

My grandmother hand sewd many of her quilts even though she had a few sewing machines. My favorite of hers was the throttle singer or white-Westinghouse (wait the white may have had electric. Oh well....) she had. I love those old sewing machines that you didn't need electric to use. That fabric looks like a rayon crepe fabric. Is it? That is an about perfect fabric for that decade. Lets just say I am older not old enough to have worn it for long , as it was about rotton by the time I would have played with an old dress or other garment of that era. Fyi , awesome job ! I also agree as I like 30 and 40 more than the 20's , 60's and ,80's it does look like a few 40s dress patterns I have found(own) what can i do to get the diagram on making that 1900 skirt and blouse patterns you used. I can draft it to my size but I need a pic of tje pattern pieces.... i love that out fit a lot !!!

Stitch dress to facing, clip and press. Then stitch through the inner facing plus the seam (3 layers, not all 4) very close to the seam. The inner facing will roll inwards and retain a soft edge. Also, a folded narrow bias strip (w/o string) can be added between the dress and facing if the tie is left off entirely. Save your sanity by starting and ending in the front for openings that are pointed. Lovely work. Will you be remaking it in crepe or silk? Congrats.
