Thank you for this! Ive tried to read up on Toivo Pylväläinen ever since you mentioned him in one of your pine bark videos. Couldn't find much stuff. On the subject of foiling lures, using either aluminium tape or copper tape means you can just stick them to the lure, no need to glue them yourself.

From what i’ve heard they used to melt film negative type thats no longer being produced in acetone and probably just dip the lures into that concoction. But to be honest i dont know for sure.

I really enjoyed this Finnish history lesson. I do wonder what happened to the cafeteria lady and her baby. The first hook placement is fascinating. Have we all been doing it "wrong" for years? I also began researching the Cork Tree which happens to be a Mediterranean Oak. This means there had to be a good deal of trade between the Iberian countries and Sweden in order to make life jackets.

On Engeneered Angler Lures KZbin channel he does something interesting to cut lip slots. He glues two hacksaw blades together, it cuts close to the width of the material he uses with minimal sanding to get a tight fit.

Thank you for this wonderful video filled with the history of fishing lures! So the founder of rapala was actually just a guy that happened to on the right place at the right time and met Toivo Pylväläinen? I actually did a video where i explain and use an eraser to create texture in foil, but it never reached the big audience 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoLGmneKe91ph7M

Im not sure if people know this but Lauri’s brother was the more keen and talented lure maker than Lauri but he died during either winter war or continuation war i for get which and lauri and his sons took over the family business. I will have to check out your video, i dont think i ever saw that one.
