Good video as usual. Nice to see trains operating is St Catharine’s on those spurs.

Thank you I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Yes it is really good to see the seldom used spurs in St Catharines busy again!

The weird horn sounds like my childhood attempts at playing a cheap little keyboard we had lol That Merritt-to-Yale spur used to be one of the busiest lines for GM freight and the NS&T, but just beyond that storage area (starting at Vine St. S.), almost all of the old right-of-ways have been built over. I may be dreaming, but a revised NS&T transit network would be very useful now. Thanx for the laugh at the end 🙂

Good video great catch of the NS coil cars always have Norfolk Southern trains around my area a lot.

I hung around that area quite a bit when the new cars and hoods were being made/fitted together, so I was happy to have good weather to make a video...very pleased to hear that you enjoyed seeing this! :)

I know! Wasn't that the funniest sound? I've never heard a train horn like that before.
@matthewinontario2 жыл бұрын
I suspect the horn they put on 4003 is the 5 chime that was previously on their leased GMTX 340 (came with the unit from GATX, but was later replaced with a 3 chime on the hood), as the 5 chime on 340 sounded like this before they took it off and was also painted black with a similar looking chime configuration

That’s quite the horn. Last time I had herd he horn on 4003 it didn’t sound that bad. Must have been because of it sitting for a while before going to LDSX.

I can't say for sure but I could have sworn I heard that horn two weeks earlier, 4003 had connected to 1857 and the two of them were running together and one of them blew the horn and it didn't sound like 1857's. So, who knows. But I smile at the comments people make about the horn because at least I know you're watching to the end :-) so thank you for that.

@@traveling_ladyrailfan Actual getting to the end was seeing your camera set up fall over. I swear I'm not laughing, but my stuff has fallen over more than a fews times over the years and regrettably had to replace my camcorder about 3 years ago. Plus broke the tripod mount on my good zoom camera. That one still work, but I have to carry it with me all the time now. :(

@@Trains4Fun I don't usually put stuff like that in, but when I was putting the video together, this footage made me laugh

Does anyone know if the tops of those Norfolk Southern cars are made in St. Catharines?
@traveling_ladyrailfan Жыл бұрын
the tops are made in St Catharines, yes. The bottoms are made in Hamilton

@@traveling_ladyrailfan Oh at National Steel Car, there are some more new coil cars sitting in there right now, I just drove by. Nice to see there are still some manufacturing jobs left in the Niagara Region. I am a younger guy and by the time I was born most of those good $25 hour jobs had already left the area.

@@SvenTSchixe happy to help if I am able to. I am not part of a extensive real network loop or anything, I don't get all the ins and outs of what's happening cuz if I did I would share them, it's often just by luck when I happen across something interesting, but I'm always happy to share my experience with others and my information which I have. All the best to you! Hope you enjoy some of the videos :-)

I like the video, but 4003 might be the worst sounding horn I've ever heard.
@traveling_ladyrailfan2 жыл бұрын
I was surprised because I had seen 4003 several times in the day however it did not blow its horn. So when it did, it was difficult for me not to laugh. I'd never heard anything quite like that before.

I have heard awful sounding horns on some of the new GO cab cars but the sound of this horn is the worst I've heard.

Many people don't understand how KZbin works. I don't make ANY money by putting videos on KZbin. Not a penny, even though the viewers have to watch ads, and ads generate income, they do not earn income for the content creators (unless you literally have multiple millions of views, and fulfill various other criteria, otherwise you do not qualify for monetization) As a result, every day that I go out to take videos, it's my gas, It's my time, and I have to pay for all equipment. If I were making any money at all, then I could invest it into better sound equipment, better video equipment, better video editing software, etc. All making these videos does for me is costs me time and money. It's a financial loss for me each time. But I love doing it because I enjoy sharing a passion for railfanning with folk all around the world and offering free video content for viewers. A couple of hundred dollars in contributions would make a big difference! But I'm not asking my viewers to finance these videos. Thank you for your comment!
