According to some out of bounds footage, that monster is actually a png imagine like the one that attacks you at the end of the game, just totally not animated, stretched out and standing still in the same spot. When you said it "disappeared" at some point, you were actually driving the sub into it, which turns the monster invisible, that's why it reappears if you back up a bit.

Something that always bothered me is about this fish and "the eye" (you know, that eye of a monster you take photo of and immediately get punched, near the end) They look so different, i mean, this fish that kills us is obviously an angler fish with zombie-like eyes, while "the eye" looks like more of a crocodile. Which sure they probably added it for the spooks. But Coincidence or not, i would appreciate if the sea of blood had more living anomalies if the devs plan to expand this universe

If you go diving in a real ocean you're pretty much guaranteed to find more than one kind of creature. If anything it makes it more interesting because it means there's probably plenty of other creatures we just never get a chance to see, if all we saw was the angry looking fish then it would be reasonable to reach the conclusion that they're the only species living down there, but since we see 2 distinct creatures, it makes it seem likely that more species live down there that we didn't find, and we just saw a small fraction of the ecosystem

The forward-facing eyes thing mostly only applies to land animals. Most fish have side-facing eyes, even the predators. This comes up in a lot of discussions on things like dragons having side-facing eyes. Crocodiles, for example, have side-facing eyes. I think the speculation is that some species are preyed on by other members of the same species, which is how you can be an apex predator and still have predators of your own.

This game is interesting to me because even though it's technically nonlinear, it uses some very strong linear design techniques to create a super scripted experience. We tend to think that more replay value is in all cases better than less, but I like the idea of a niche that goes all in on the blind-playthrough experience. And after the first playthrough, seeing how basic and easy-to-understand the background systems are is cool. Like looking at classic DOOM's code. It's all very tidy.

I still believe there were two creatures we encountered during the game. This angler fish type of creature, and another we had a brief encounter with. No matter how much I look at this fish's image, I can't find a match for the close up eye picture. The angler has almost pure white eyes with no pupils. It also could be me, but the eye image makes me think that the creature's eyes are on the side if its head instead of straight forward like the fish. It makes me think that the eye image belongs to either a whale or mosasaurus creature, as the scales and ridges are similar to theirs.

SPOILER ALERT actualy its Just a static object placed in the map and the game gives u the specific position so that when you take the photo its visible in the distance in the corner to make the game more scary but its not an NPC the sounds are scripted events the submarine is actualy always in one place and you control a camera that moves through the map which is fully 3D the game then puts filters over the camera shots before showing them to u There are 2 monsters in this game the First and much more appearing is this fish its not a working AI NPC but Just an asset with textures which appears twice in the game Once here placed within this position on the map, it doesnt do anything so you can come to it As close As you like the same model is also always present behind the submarine where once you activate a trigger at the end of the game the animation Plays and with an bloody explosion the monster model slides into the ship making it seems like it ate it The second monster is the weird Alligator Eye its actually Just a texture which is designed so you see its entirety on the photograph, when it appears its once again after the "submarine" passes a trigger and that makes the texture spawn aswell As the trigger forces the camera to stop and lock itself in place after it turns itself to face the "creature", once you take the picture the event ends the camera is no Longer locked in its position and the texture dissapeares There is no real threat Just scripted events, textures and assets 😂
