The Youngstown & Southeastern made a southbound run this Friday from Youngstown to Negley, OH with 14 loads of construction and demolition (C&D) loads for the recently reopened landfill down at Negley. Along with the C&D, the crew tagged along a boxcar and LPG tank car. The tanker was eventually set off in the siding near McClurg Rd. in Boardman. A man in a hi-rail truck followed close on the train's rear end to monitor the track and car behavior during the uphill climb out of Youngstown. IBCX low nose GP9 77 (ex-New Castle Industrial RR, nee-BAR) led GP18 18 (ex-Chicago Rail Link, nee-CRIP) and GP10 8340 (ex-P&L, exx-ICG, nee-IC) from Youngstown to North Lima, where the 77 was cut off and units 18 and 8340 continued the journey to Negley long hood forward. We start the chase at the Home Depot parking lot in Boardman and work our way towards the Ohio Route 517 crossing near Rogers, OH, a short distance from the Signal Rail Terminal where half the train was set off and the other half went on to the landfill. Hope you enjoy! 8/24/2018
