Taped in an intimate concert setting at the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles.

This upload is the 4th in a series of live concert performances following on my upload of Neil Diamond's 'The Thank You Australia Concert' [1976].
In the absence of high resolution (HD) video, I have sought to upgrade (from a VHS tape) the video quality and upgrade it from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect. In addition, I have also sought to upscale the audio. Sadly, this will have to suffice until such time that the Mastertape recording is released.
I have decided to embark on this mission to upload similar live performances for the benefit of Neil Diamond fans worldwide, in particular in countries where DVDs have become obsolete or are in the process of being so. - NDC

When I was literally fighting for my life against Sarcoidosis, I spent a year in bed with only your music to comfort me, you made me happy and hopeful, this I credit you for participating in my treatment, and thus my success in getting into a full remission. I loved you before and much more ever since. That was 1986-87. I will be 74 soon. I thank you, I love you and can't imagine a world without you (him).

Heard this song on the radio a couple of times back in 1971, and I was hooked. I listened intently for the name of the singer and the song, and then headed out to my nearest music store. On arrival at the store, I discovered that this, to me then, unknown singer, had two albums (LPs). One was 'Sweet Caroline' and the other was 'Stones'. I then did something that I had never done before... I purchased not one, but both albums, my purchase being made solely on having heard only one song from this singer. This song so moved me..._ _"... I got an emptiness deep inside and I've tried but it won't let me go..."_ _The pain, the tortured cries. This was even more evident in 'I Am... I Said (Reprise)'. Neil's voice, his sincerity and pain, tugged at my heartstrings; he touched my soul. I felt his loss, his pain, for I too, was experiencing those emotions (The story's the same one). Thanks for your comments Renate. That was the 80s. Worth noting that Neil kept a poor family in Nicaragua employed as they were given the task of making his flashy jackets. Some of them had real beads stitched onto them, making them extremely heavy. In one of his performances, as Neil was performing an up-beat, up-tempo song, as he swung around the beads came loose and scattered all over the stage and on the front rows. Those in those front rows rushed to pick them up as mementoes. I am so thankful for you and your music, Neil Diamond. You and your music helped me through a tough time when I left my husband of 15 years with my 3 children, 14-11-7. I grabbed the cassette player, but forgot other cassettes, your cassette was in the player. Listening to you singing all the time, helped me and my children in a time we needed some comfort. I grew up on Neil Diamond since I was 10 yrs old. Listening to an eight track tape in our family station wagon on holidays. The whole family would sing his songs. After I was married in 1985 we went to two concerts in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was sorry to hear about his disease but his music will always be with me. I Love Neil Diamond. He was one of the best, no question. Thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of the world.!!🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️

1969, just got home from overseas, dropped my duffle bag off in Michigan, and headed to California for the PARTY. Now I'm 75 and I am thankful for the memories. They were the best of times. Came back to Michigan in1976, got married, had kids and grand babies and as I live the final chapters in my life, I know I've been Blessed.

Thanks for your comments Dennis, wonderful to learn that, like me, Neil's music has been the tracks of you life. Though that said, you've got a head start on me. I only became aware of Neil in 1971. My notes - 'I AM... I SAID': _This has to be my absolute favourite Neil Diamond song. Heard this song on the radio a couple of times back in 1971, and I was hooked. I listened intently for the name of the singer and the song, and then headed out to my nearest music store. On arrival at the store, I discovered that this, to me then, unknown singer, had two albums (LPs). One was 'Sweet Caroline' and the other was 'Stones'. During "I am I said", when the camera zooms in on his face, those eyes, I swear I can see into those eyes and feel the song so much deeper than ever before. Whoever did the video on these songs was incredible. Music is such a universal language, even if it's in a language you don't speak, it makes you FEEL something.

I have loved Neil Diamond since I was 9 years old. I had this, by now vintage red radio, where I first listened to Neil Diamond on that old radio. My bedroom was the attic, which I totally loved. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to that period in my life. Life was a simpler time then. I wish. I still had that radio. The song I was in love with, to this day is “Red Red Wine”. Glad it’s not a record or it would have been considered well used and unplayable.Anyway, just love Neil Diamond❤️❤️

I always loved NeilDiamond’s music. But my sister-in-law told me a story I love. She had met my brother in less-than-desirable circumstances and had no wish to see him again. When he called her several days later, she was wondering how fast she could get rid of him. He asked her to go to a Neil Diamond concert, and she thought “one date won’t hurt.” She saw him as he usually was on that night, and they ended up getting married and stayed married several decades until his death. So in an odd way, I think my family owes a debt to Neil Diamond.

Neil is such a humble and wonderful man. I have loved him, adored him and been a fan for over 50 some years. Saw his 50 year Hot August Night concert and very many before but that one was an absolute spectacular concert. Will miss going to his concerts. Yes, Neil Diamond is God's gift to us. A genius, a masterpiece that is a gift to us. And no, I don't think he realizes the impact he has on us. He is such a kind, generous person. He works hard on his music because it fulfills him. It's his calling. I think that's as far as he is aware of who he is to us. I was devastated when I heard about the Parkinson's diagnosis! To give Neil Diamond that diagnosis meant his life was going to be altered. I pray for new treatments, a cure would be awesome. Let him feel how much he means to us. You, his team, that he's so close to and trusts. I listen to him everyday! His voice sends chills up and down my spine. I feel what he has put into those songs. What a wonderful gifted man! I've been lucky to have him in my life since I was a teenager. I saw my first concert when I went away to go to the U of U. I'll never forget that concert. He told us that he was performing, for the first time, a new song. It was "I Am... I Said." It hit me like a thunderbolt! To know that he felt lonely and alone just like me! I wanted to go up on stage and hug him and tell him he wasn't alone, but of course I couldn't. So I just sat in my seat and cried. I'm 72 now, and that song still hits me, impacts me the same way. I become that nineteen year old girl again. God Bless Him 🙏. Please let him be well and let him know how much I love him❤️⭐💎🥰🫂🌹

I believe that he might have had an inkling that there was something amiss when he embarked on his 2017 50th Anniversary World Tour. Observing him perform from the live video on Periscope which wife Katie personally filmed and broadcast from his concerts, I couldn't help but notice a stiffness in his movements and that he seemed to have aged. I was devastated, and when the news broke following his UK concerts.... "I Am... I Said" will always be my absolute favourite Neil Diamond song. My notes from our website - _This has to be my absolute favourite Neil Diamond song. Heard this song on the radio a couple of times back in 1971, and I was hooked. I listened intently for the name of the singer and the song, and then headed out to my nearest music store. On arrival at the store, I discovered that this, to me then, unknown singer, had two albums (LPs). One was 'Sweet Caroline' and the other was 'Stones'. I then did something that I had never done before... I purchased not one, but both albums, my purchase being made solely on having heard only one song from this singer. This song so moved me..._ _"... I got an emptiness deep inside and I've tried but it won't let me go..."_ _The pain, the tortured cries. This was even more evident in 'I Am... I Said (Reprise)'. Neil's voice, his sincerity and pain, tugged at my heartstrings; he touched my soul. I felt his loss, his pain, for I too, was experiencing those emotions (The story's the same one).
