I'm not defending her, but it's clear that she's a slave to her own people, and to maintain her authority, she acts like this - basically mirrors them. To question a God in Fontaine is basically to question every person living there, and as we can see, they're very arrogant (we can see that in world quests too, for example, Virgil). Even Clorinda notices that, when traveler puts out his sword and asks wtf he's doing - not because she's afraid of him hurting Furina, but because it's a direct slap towards their system, which is build on the fact, that Hydro Archon is always RIGHT and, as a result, maintains peace and balance. With how things going for her, I believe she will be overthrown. Also, people are really dramatic with how they're treating this character, she's not nearly as bad, as they try to make her be, I understand that the annoying things she does to maintain her composure is well.. annoying, but to me it all looks like a bravado thing and extremely low self-esteem + fear of displeasing her people to the point where every thing she does is an Oscar worthy performance just to be sure she's still got it as an Archon.

okay so here’s my thing with furina: everything she does is a performance in the most fundamental way. she is putting on a show in order to keep the attention and love of her people (which is what a legitimate archon should have), and she believes that the character she plays is the only thing that will get her that respect. it clearly works as they are all bemused by her and love her antics, but because it’s all an act she feels like she HAS to keep it up at ALL TIMES in order to maintain any sense of legitimacy there is. even so, the people rarely refer to her as the archon, and when they do it’s not necessarily with an air of dignified respect. she is TERRIFIED of irrelevancy and she (probably correctly) assumes that they will not love the real her the way they love her character…which makes the whole situation worse. we see very brief glimpses of the real her when she messes something up in the performance, and she takes notice of her people’s reactions to this and has to double back down on the act at the earliest possibility. all she wants is to be recognized and loved like the previous archon but she truly sees no way for that to be possible unless she plays this ridiculous role. i’m hoping that the conclusion of the quest will be her doing away with the act in front of her people in the face of a genuine threat to them (the primordial water i’d assume) and when they see this and see how much she truly loves them they will give her the respect she’s been vying for every second of her reign. the act may be strange/annoying to you but it’s not really her and she’s doing what she feels she has to in order to be loved back by her people. this concludes my defense of furina sans twitter rage :3

Not exactly the main focus, *but I'm really glad Dehya was the one from Sumeru who's face we were going to see last.* Her character quest was awesome (albeit sad AF) and everything about her (except her sabotaged kit) is just so great and sweet, but not so overly mushy it feels weird. Really hope we get to see more of her and Alhaitham and Cyno in future content together. *Those 3 working together were one of the biggest highlights from the Sumeru Archon Quest for me.*

My thoughts on Furina (a bit spoilery but not really): From what I could tell from her actions, she seems to be suffering from inferiority complex and is acting out like a child. Most of the oceanids went up and left Fontaine because they didn't like her and to gain her people's favor, she keeps them entertained by drama and theatrics because that's what her people are praising her for. Not only that, the prophecy seem to affect her heavily but she is desperately trying to hide the fact that she doesn't have an inkling of what is going on. It really feels like she actually wants traveler's help but she's too "proud" to ask for it yet.

I actually think Furina **doesn't ** have overinflated ego. Quite the opposite, I think she has a seriously low confidence and is hiding her insecurity by acting all high and mighty. If you played 3.8 event (not a spoiler since it literally cannot be experienced again), I think Idyia is meant to be a teaser for Furina. Both are in charge of their regions but their roles are likened to a mascot. Idyia had low confidence and didn't feel happy about her responsibilities, to the point she was glad to be treated as a mascot while others would do her job. I think Furina is the same. Also, spoiler for an easter egg below: If you completed 4.0 Archon Quest and go to the Lucine Fountain you can hear Furina's voice wailing about how lonely she is and how much longer she has to endure. There are theories about how Furina has split personalities so this could be some sort of a sealed personality, but if this voice is the inner thought of the Furina we meet she's actually going through a lot.

I think furina has been forced into a not great position. It seems like she is still a mentally child or at least a teenager. However, despite going this, she has to act like an adult and take on the work of leading a whole country. I think perhaps she thinks the only way people will respect her is if she puts on an act for people. She could also be deeply insecure about her ability to lead, so instead she avoids it. We see that she is willing to put in the work (she makes a comment about pulling an all-nighter for research) but it’s partially due to how she wants people to see her. She is deeply insecure about what people think about her, and is constantly trying to put in an act to impress others. With the recent archon quest, it has also become clear how insecure and frightened she really is. She was literally attacked and almost murdered alone in the middle of the night, yet she is too scared to talk to even Neuvillette about it because she’s scared it will make her look weak. She also seems to feel helpless in the midst of her nation. Yes, she gets public approval because of her act, but this means she is not taken as seriously as Neuvillette, causing her to feel as if she has little to no power at all in her country despite being its archon. It’s honestly a really sad situation to be in, as she’s stuck between the approval and safety of her people. That’s my whole take on her character, thank u for coming to my TED talk

Oo that might be true traveler could be a god from another land bc when he got into this world the traveler said "and I lost all my power" which could mean the traveler could possibly be very powerful and be a god especially bc unknown god called the traveler "Outlanders" and the traveler easily was a Knight and outlander in mondstadt that shows how powerful traveler could be so it's possible he is a god from another land + u could see how well the traveler dodged unknown god and almost hit her

Haven't finished the vid yet, but I'm working on it. I've finished the archon quests today and I adore Furina. For me she's such a breath of fresh air compared to Nahida. But I'm disappointed that the fandom is giving bwaap grief when he has every right to have a different opinion about Furina or any other Genshin character. Unfortunately though, big sections of the Genshin fandom don't "allow" people to have different opinions on characters, especially if they're content creators. The same thing happened to angeless when she rightfully called out some of the plot holes in Nahida's logic in Sumeru Act 2. All that to say--bwaap, hope you are doing well, I am still ride or die for you since your first Ganyu video, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the next 20 min of this video. ^^
