LYRICS:
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Don’t get stuck in the past
Say your favourite things at mass
Tell your mother that you love her
And go out of your way for others
Sit beneath a light that suits ya
And look forward to a brighter future
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Sink as far down as you can be pulled up
Happiness really ain’t all about luck
Let your demeanour be your deep down self
And don’t sacrifice your life for your health
When you speak, speak sincere
And believe me friend, everyone will hear
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empt
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Bring your own two cents
Never borrow them from someone else
Buy yourself a flower every hundredth hour
Throw your hair down from your lonely tower
And if, and if
You find yourself in the family way
Give the kid more than what you got in your day
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Never let a clock tell you what you got time for
It only goes around, goes around, goes around
Take your family name for your own great sins
Cuz each day is where it all begins
And
Don’t give up too quick
You only get one line - you better make it stick
If we give ourselves to every breath
Then we’re all in the running for a hero’s death
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
Life ain’t always empty
That was the year of the sneer now the real thing's here

@vibes6326
@vibes6326 4 жыл бұрын
on the surface the lyrics are really optimistic but the anxiety inducing guitar riff gives off a really overwhelming sense of dread and makes the lyrics seem more ironic, almost as if the vocalist is trying to kid himself on that everything's fine, backed by the beach boys-esque vocal harmonies and doo wop adlibs that youd typically find in a much more up beat song

The atonal, the vocal disharmony ,the insistent guitar riff, it ain't the Picture This, the sweethearts Kodaline, and it ain't a begrudge. It's just, the country went through 10 years of an Ireland collapse after the financial crisis. Could ye not write a fucking rock song, no? Nice to see the likes of the Fontaines reflect at least an essence of the societal psychosocial disaster.

The worst thing about music in 2020 is the need for people to do this. Go look up any modern punk band and the comments are full of people who are so used to everything being neatly pigeon holed that they can't help themselves from doing this. It's always the same bands being mentioned. Go seek out a Viagra Boys song and check the comments. "Oh they sound like The Fall! They sound like Joy Division! They sound like Iggy Pop!" Blah blah blah blah blah. Fontaines DC sound like Fontaines DC, nothing else needs to be said.

Seriously great poetic content in all their pieces. Haven’t been this excited by a wild sounding band for quite a long time. I’m 64 so this is all the really good Indie parts of the early 80s. Plus, long live the Irish.

A lot of folks seem to miss the point of this song. It's not a mantra about how life is great. Rather its about how life being good, comfortable, and being a decent human being isn't enough. It's about how accepting the notion of "life ain't always empty" leads to the end of ambition. It's why the last fantastic refrain of this song goes against being safe. Against being thankful. And how we have to die a heros death to truely live. Being a decent person isn't enough. Fight the power.

In 2019, Fontaines D.C. made their debut with "Dogrel," an album that managed to capture the audience's attention with its energetic punk sound and direct, fiery lyrics. In their second album, "A Hero's Death," the Irish band chose to embark on a new, more mature and reflective path. The central theme of the record is the human condition, with all its contradictions and vulnerabilities. In "A Hero's Death," Fontaines D.C. delve deep within themselves with a sense of yearning, but they are not surrendering nihilists. They find something precious at the bottom of their fears and use it to rise and see a glimmer of light. A Change in Perspective In their first album, Fontaines D.C. focused on their hometown, Dublin, and its culture. In "A Hero's Death," however, the perspective broadens to embrace universal themes. The gritty streets and restless characters of Dublin are still present but now serve as a starting point to explore the anxieties of the human soul. A More Mature Sound Fontaines D.C.'s sound has also evolved. "Dogrel" was an energetic and straightforward punk album. "A Hero's Death," on the other hand, is a more mature record with a more diverse and complex sound. Fontaines D.C. have moved away from the raw punk tones to embrace a more refined sound that incorporates elements of post-punk, rock, and folk. A Substantial Album "A Hero's Death" is a substantial album that confirms Fontaines D.C.'s talent. The Irish band has managed to grow and mature without losing their anger and poetry. One year later after your post NME make them `Best Band in the World`, it`s hard to argue with that, all competition considered in this time in recent years, decades even in rock history. This band could easily survive in an earlier era when they would have had some serious gifted bands to deal and compete with, but unfortunately the state of real inventive talent is so rare it gives these boys a clear run, absolutley no competition in this sad 2022. Thank God for Fontaines DC . I was born in 1962 but a young man who was born in 2002 told me they are the only band that are honest and sincere and the kids today need that the same attitude and coolness i needed 45 years ago. Never Mind about Johnny Rotten !`cause Rock n Roll will Never Die.`

There is tons of good music out there and the wonderful thing us its being made by people from the ages of 18 to 80, doing it themselves. I love it. Hopefully the horrendous music industry will eventually go fuck itself.
