The Cure is all over this song...
@burieddagger80645 ай бұрын
Yeah there's strands of the Smiths, the Cure, even really early MBV and other late 80s jangle pop, stone roses, etc. They are continuing to tap the late 80s/90s UK/Irish alternative vein they struck with Jackie Down the Line. It's so good, fresh but nostalgic, pulling clear influence but distinctly original.
@compucorder645 ай бұрын
@@burieddagger8064 The Cure definitely, though maybe a little bit more of the Smiths and a bit less of The Cure. I could hear the MBV type influence slightly, maybe in the backing vocals and vocal melody, and layering. But it's not obvious. I couldn't put my finger on a specific band, but late 80s jangle pop is a good description, and I know what you mean with Stone Roses. But maybe leaning a little into early 90s indie. Maybe even that wistful happy/sad nostaglia of Smashing Pumkpkins, Sonic Youth or the sunnier tracks of Dinosaur Jr. Maybe a touch of Lemonheads, or the mood of tracks like Ash - Shining Light. idk, it's hard to pin. Which is good.
