"With a face like sin and a heart like a James Joyce novel" is poetic as hell. I know these guys got together over their shared love of poetry and I sincerely hope they don't forget their roots. As a young person, it makes me ecstatic as hell to listen to young bands who know what's up. I also love that the lead singer sings in his natural accent; if you have an accent, use it, don't obscure it.

Every once in a long while I come accidentally come across music that immediately grabs my attention. I just heard a song this band on radio South Winds Blow which sounds great, after checking Fontaines D.C on youtube and listening to a few of their tunes my ears pick up on a great mix of MC5, Damien Dempsey, Shane MacGowan, Billy Bragg, Joy Division, a little Dylan, James Joyce, A little of A House, The Strokes, I know that with a few more listens all those others references will fade away The music is great, it, it is raw, it is real, it is fresh, those boys tell great stories, they fully believe in what they are doing, they grab your attention. What more do you need to enjoy excellent music.

@Christy Dolan Great call on Whipping Boy, definitive the lead singer has a bit of his delivery. It's cause I reckon they both sing in their own accents, none of this faux American vocal's that seem to have plagued Irish music scene for years. Heartworm still one of the best Irish albums you are likely to hear. Just great to hear just something different with a bit of kick to it, besides the shallowness of Kodaline and that lark and posh acoustic wobblers that seem to have drenched the charts over here for years now.
@stevecheevers73375 жыл бұрын
@Christy Dolan Shocking shite, Tough to find great Irish albums over the years, I'm in my mid 30's and nothing much has impressed me from these isles through the years. I thought The Thrill's So Much for The City was a cracking album, but they were copying a load of bands I liked and they were doing American faux vocals but it was rarer back then. Was a big fan of Ash, 1977 and Free All Angels are great. Whipping Boy Heartworm is great as well. Pugwash are a underrated band. Had a soft spot for Relish debut album. Damien Dempsey first few albums are great. But that's it for me with Irish albums that impressed me. Until Fontaines DC came along.
