It’s a personal choice and if one decides to off themselves, then so be it. People give a lot of lip service about this but the truth is most of the time you are completely alone and life can be overwhelming. Death isn’t so bad and in cases such as what Robin Williams dealt with (Lewy body dementia), it may be a better solution. So sit on it you clueless clown, you obviously haven’t been there.

I'm 24, I have always watched Happy Days but somehow missed this part, I guess it didn't mean as much to me when I was younger. I just watched this episode again and had to come on here and save this clip. Just think, a show from the 70s has a message in an episode of it that can speak to generation after generation. I applaud Henry's work in this and I appreciate the fact that they discussed this topic. A beautiful beautiful way to spread suicide awareness. ❤️

Yes, sitcom writing being periodic was very difficult back then, unlike today when writers have the advantage of a fandom-created Wiki to check what an earlier episode said. But it's really easy to retcon this, because in truth adults who have been abused or abandoned as kids will misremember dates and events periodically. We could also say that his father left when he was three, came back for a short visit when he was 12 and then left again. So then he hasn't seen his father since he was 12 but he was abandoned when he was three.

In this episode at 0:53 he says his dad left at 12.
